Irrelevant though as people do not plan adoptions like they plan which shirt their going to wear or what to have for lunch. If I were unable to conceive, I'd adopt because I personally want children.

Vietnam has far more adoption applications that actual foster kids available for adoption.
Why is this?
Because hollywood movie stars would rather look "humanitarian" by adopting from third world countries than in their own backyard.
Vietnam isn't the only place, China has this problem as well.
If most of the people applying for adoption would do so here in the U.S., you'd see no overflow of kids in foster care.

Every person that I've ever known who gave a baby up for adoption had the child placed with a family and now gets picture updates and stuff.

And no, 100% of aborted kids would'nt get placed for adoption, some would just be raised by their parents who would have to "suck it up."
The adoptions are for those that are financially unable to provide for the baby or are too young.

In the People magazine covering Angelina Jolie's latest adoption, it quotes the Vietnamese secratary of something or other as saying that they have almost DOUBLE the amount of applications for adoption (mostly from the U.S.) than they do kids in foster care available for adoption. It is stated that this is the case in China as well.

That's because it's now ****ing trendy to have a 3rd world baby. I say take care of your own first, if you must have a baby that is a different "color" than you, there's plenty of black, Latino, Asian and other readily available here. If I were to adopt I'd go for a black child as the waiting list is lesser/non-existant.
