Pascal is so damn miscast. Great actor. But I can't see him as Reed. I also feel he is staring to be overexposed.

Vanessa Kirby is a great choice for Sue.

I liked Joseph Quinn in Stranger Things. He was the best part of the recent season, but his character was basically the opposite of Johnny. I guess we'll see how that shakes out.

Can't say much about Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

They should have kept Krasinski for Reed, otherwise pretty good casting.

Couldn't care less if Surfer has shiny silver pecs or boobs. Well, I'd much rather see the boobs visually, but not going to affect the story much at all either way.

I couldn't less either cos I won't be going to see it

It's only because of your deep hatred for Chileans

$20 this movie won’t be in the “central” MCU timeline, but multiverse setting. Maybe Reed Richards will use his super genius to open a multiverse portal to the central 616.

Seems like a given

and then eventually Norrin Radd will show up, Eventually.

Well, yeah, of course. That and this movie might have been cool when I was 14 or something. Not so much as an adult.

You're still 14, hence why you're worshipping Underworld and Riddick... 😛

^^^Going by his registration date he started posting here when he was one.

Impressive.

Norrin Radd should be the Surfer, not Shalla-Bal.

👆

All that race swapping and gender swapping need to end, seriously.

Has it occured to anyone here this could be the Captain Carter equivalent of the Silver Surfer?

It's heavily rumored this FF could be from somewhere else in the mulitverse, a reality they left in 1963. If they were really gender swapping the Surfer, they would be calling any female playing him Norrid Radd.

We already had Norrin Radd and the film was shit.

I hope they make it "Nora Radd", as a pair of t!ts will not change this adaptation/story in any significant way. It's going to be good or bad or mediocre regardless of Surfer's gender.

Then why change it? People want to see their favorite characters on scree, not some shitty knockoff version.

Luckily, I don't care for Silver Surfer so, in this case, the change doesn't matter to me.

To be different and mix things up, which isn't all the uncommon. Films change things from the source all the time and people don't freak out, the outrage is selective. I'd be fine with original Surfer as well.

Keeping original gender and/or race only matters when it's integral to the character's back story. Some matter more than others, some don't matter at all.

Surfer being male or female doesn't really change the character's story too much aside from aesthetics. Watch.

Norrin's Norra’s life changed forever when a menacing alien spacecraft pierced Zenn-La's long-neglected defense systems. Convincing a Council of Scientists member to provide him her with a spaceship, Radd soon confronted the invader, Galactus, who intended to consume Zenn-La. Radd offered to become his herald and seek out new worlds for him in exchange for Galactus sparing Zenn-La. Galactus agreed, transforming Radd into a silver-skinned, cosmic-powered super-being patterned after an adolescent fantasy plucked from Norrin's Norra’s memories. Known thereafter as the Silver Surfer because of the silvery flying board he she rode, Radd departed Zenn-La with Galactus. -Surfer's Origins

A character is a hell of a lot more then one paragraph of their backstory from wikipedia. Now, is Surfer's gender a big part of his character? Probably not. But, as I said, people want accurate versions of their favorite characters and a female version isn't that.

Also, people freak out over changes from the source material all the time. Especially when it is seemingly unnecessary changes like this.

You’re giving them way too much credit. They needed another female lead to check some arbitrary box, so they just said **** it, Surfer is a woman now. There’s really no thought, beyond that, given to the idea.

I think we can all agree that Robbie wants to undergo a gender transition as soon as possible.

Correct and correct and it's largely irrelevant to Surfer, why I couldn't care less.

I'm more concerned with the accuracy hitting all the right spots at the character's personality and power-set, than what's between his/her legs. As we saw in 2007, correct gender, film was still trash.

Would be like people getting upset because a Latino is cast as Reed Richards, when skin color is largely irrelevant to the character. Speaking of, where's the real outrage over that? Answer: Selective outrage. Pedro isn't that great of a fit (imo), but it's not because of his skin color.

Of all the things to worry about this film, Surfer's gender is barely a blip. The MCU being on a serious downward slide is top concern.
