in the UK star wars mag their is an interview with Mark Hamill he says Lucas told him about episodes 7-9 and that Luke only plays a cameo in episode 9 and he'd been on Tatooine living like a hemit studying the Jedi arts for years like Obi-wan this messes up ALL the EU.
I agree with most of you the Star Wars story is of Anakin and his Son the story ends with ROTJ.

Ush, I love how you've totally accepted that the stories are Anakin's just 'cause Lucas said it in one press conference. Thirty years ago, that wasn't the plan -- it was just a convenient way now to shut people up about the sequels. In thirty more years, it'll undoubtably change again. The fact is, Star Wars has grown BEYOND Lucas. WAY beyond. While Episodes 1 and 2 are decent, there are Star Wars stories out there that have no connection to Lucas at all that are way better than they are. Is it Lucas's baby? Undoubtably. Should he still be in total control, as the be all and end all of that baby? No...that's like saying that George Washington/his decendants should always be in control of America. So in other words, two things: 1) Star Wars ain't about Lucas anymore. 2) There should never be a sequel trilogy. I think there will be, just like there's been far more extension of Star Trek then there ever should been, because there will always be people interested in the money Star Wars could make them. But I think to destroy the entire Expanded Universe by making something sub-par canon is a real crime.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day.
I love how you really didn't pay much attention to anything I said.
Whatever the plan was 30 years ago is irrelevant. Back then it was a forming idea and no-one was sure where it was going. By 1983 and the production of ROTJ, it had become solid. He finished the story right there and then.
Now, as we have already discussed, yes, he can change his mind, but the idea that he has no reason to not make the new films is ludicrous- he has every reason, because as he has stated himself, the story he wanted to tell was done.
I actually totally reject your points. I think Lucas should absolutely have control over SW in perpetuity- it is his, he can do whatever he wants with it. If that grates against what you want for the fans- tough. Frankly I find most material for Star Wars that comes out not from Lucas is crap, though that's not to say that is all down to Lucas himself; the films are a far more spread out effort than any EU material ever is.
Like it or not- Star Wars IS about Lucas. Should that cease it will be a very bad day for all things Star Wars. And the post ROTJ EU is already as irrelevant and non-canon as it will ever be, whether the sequel films are ever made or not.
As OB1 says, VG, your comments on what is True Star Wars are worth nothing- not a bean. Zip. Sorry, but there you go. And I have little time for fans who arrogantly assume they have the right to assume the mantle of a franchise. Too many people get stuck in a juvenile delusion that the fans can somehow claim the stories as their own. It doesn't work like that. Star Wars does not belong to anyone other than GL, and you either like what he makes of it or you do not- that is all you get to do.

You took the words right out of my mouth Ush!
I doubt we'll ever see an Episode 7,8, and 9. This is just like J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, where everyone keeps asking her if there's going to be a book 8. Which is notable because J.K. and George have given the almost-identical answers when asked about their books and movies: 'There are no plans for one." I recall Lucas said that he'd be around 80 if he gets time to make another trilogy and he said if he was healthy and feeling up to it, he might do it. He said that after EP:III, he would like to do some work in TV and work on more Indiana Jones movies. He said all of this in an interview he had with TV Guide a few years back, which I might provide a transcript if someone asks. I'd post it now but I'm lazy lol.
