Right. As much as I'd hate to see Episode 3 be the last, again I think it's appropriate. It's hard for me to explain why, I guess it's just because the first 6 are about the rise of the empire, then the fall of the empire, so to make another 3 beyond a story that was concluded after 6, well it'd be kind of wierd I guess.

I agree with you SMX, I think it`s better that GL is stopping after Episode 3. 7, 8 and 9 just wouldn`t fit in with the other trilogies.

Thats right the guy who plays Chewbacca reported earlier this year that his contract for EP III had a clause that stated the return of him to do VII-IV. He also stated that the men behind the characters of r2d2 and c3po all recieved the same clause. Alos Lucas arts has already pattened the name Star Wars VII VIII IV with the US government. This is not a news that gaurantees a sequel but it is pretty ironic and interesting that this was the first time in Star Wars history that GL did this for a whole trilogy. I mean the first thing is very very good news for people hoping that this goes but the patent thing is something that most movies do, when the makers of Scream went to make Scream 2 they patented the name up to Scream X. As far as how far that series does not go. Scream 4 and Scream 5 scripts were trashed and are being rewritten which this does not show much promise. But NEv Campbell never signed no deal that would put her in these movies., because that almost sets things in stone it is hard to renig on a contract but not impossible especially for GL who has a lot of money.

I know that I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I find it hard to bleive that after Episode III George Lucus will able to walk away from this project.

So should he decide to make another trilogy does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be and which character it would be centred around, giving your reasons please.

return of the jedi is the perfect ending to the epic saga!

yes we would need a sequel trilogy....i think lucas wont turn his back on star wars.....hes being doing these movies for so long that to end it would lead him into a depression!

the only hint that GL said himself about a third triology was back in the introduction of "splinter of the minds eye"

its hard to say. i mean not only is lucas doing ep3 but he's helping out with indy 4.

a part of me says do a sequal trilogy but the other says let episode 3 be the final one.

but if i have to chose i would say make episode the last because the original cast is all old.

he could always go one step further in his quest ultimate graphic domination by making all the characters 3D too, theres enough harrison ford impersonators to make do for the voice!!

As a read of this thread makes clear, there are no plans to make this, and anything GL said about it two decades ago have long been rendered irrelevant by what he has said and done subsequently.

man the whole people sighning on for ep 7 8 9 are b.s petermayhew put it up on his site saying there is no such trilogy.

damn, he's george lucas for godsake! if he doesn't make more starwars movies what'll he do!? there's no need to assume it'll be as patchy as the prequels. and mark, carrie & harrison will be a good age if the makes another generational leap (instead of replicating the zahn thread). billy dee for that matter. and of course there's no reason george would have to remain in the director role.
he basically has no reason not to make them, unless he has no passion for the idea at all. likely?

He has every reason not to make them- he has already finished the story!
