It's not. The idea of actually allowing white supremacists to influence the world in that manner is just dumb. The OK sign is universal, they can't steal something that belongs to anyone and everyone, they don't have anywhere near that much power.
I work in a school and the kids do the OK hand thing all the time, should I report to the Prevent Scheme Safeguarding Lead and tell them that a bunch of ten-year-olds are engaging in far-right racist hate spreading?
Haven't the white supremacists also taken the US flag as their own, and doesn't that mean the flag is tainted and shouldn't be associated with? In fact, Britain First use the Union Jack; I suppose that, too, is now a hate symbol. What about the swastika – I'm wondering whether those Buddhists should be allowed to be so flagrantly antisemitic (obviously use in the western world in any other context is not 👌 ). Americans love eagles, but didn't the Nazis also use an eagle as their symbol, too? If white supremacists started using the Black Power Olympic salute, is that also off-bounds? Nazis shake hands; I say we all stop shaking hands to show solidarity with the minorities who live in fear of the far right. Shit, wait, Nazis drink water and eat food, don't they? Well, there's only one thing we can morally do now...
It's just dumb. I have always enjoyed the OK hand symbol, I still use it a lot now, I'm not stopping because of some dumb ****ing 4chan kids or a bunch of racist morons. The OK hand sign thingy will outlive white supremacy.
