Writer Al Gough Reveals 'Mummy 3' Details

Al Gough, who is co-writing the third installment in the Mummy film franchise with partner Miles Millar, told SCI FI Wire that the sequel will unwrap a new mummy and feature a character who is the grown son of Rick and Evie (played in the previous films by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz). It's aiming to shoot this summer under director Rob Cohen (Stealth) for a 2008 release.

Gough and Millar, who also created The CW's Smallville, said the sequel will also have a new concept. "Stephen Sommers [who wrote and directed the previous two films] and his partner, Bob Ducsay, ... approached us and said, 'Steve doesn't want to write the third movie. Would you guys be interested?'" Gough said in an interview. "And we were like, 'Well, it's a third.' But then they had a concept for it that we really liked. They had an idea for the movie, which is something we always wanted to do. So we're like, 'Well, if we don't do it, they're going to do it in this movie.'"

I think without brendan and rachel it wouldn't be good cause ppl are used to those characters and ppl hate when there favorite old characters are no more and then they think theres no point in watching the movie

im gonna agree with the two above me, thats fine that there is a new mummy, i loved the who scorpion king concept in the mummy returnes.. but without at least brendan and rachel itll be hard to accept.. the characterization of the first and second mummies were what kept people watching it, not just the action

I agree with the comments! Do not even bother doing it without Brendan and Rachel. He already said he WOULD do another,and Rachel just rocks!

I do not care how good you can write them out, DON't do it! I would not even RENT this movie without them.

yes dont even do it w/out the returning same stars! i wouldnt be a very good film IMO! as said i wouldnt even rent the movie!! i think it has to be done with the same people or its not worth it!

I've got to agree, without Brendan and Rachel this movie doesn't even have a right to exist. It was these two actors that made the first moive as great as it was and made the second movie bearable to watch. I love the idea of a third movie (trilogys are the best) but Brendan and Rachel must return as the main characters.

If you you do write another mummy movie and dont add them in it then change the name of the movie ,it will work better that way and then make sequels to it

DO NOT release this movie without Rachel and Brenden or I will make sure no one watches it. I DON CARE how good the next actors might be but the latter two rocked n I juss hope u take this into consideration.
