Screen Media Gets 'Turn The River'

Screen Media Ventures has acquired world rights to "Turn The River," a pool hall drama helmed by thesp Chris Eigemen ("The Treatment") starring Famke Janssen, Rip Torn and Terry Kinney. Pic is about a blue-collar mother trying to raise $50,000 playing high-stakes pool in order to gain custody of her son.
Screen Media prexy Robert Baruc negotiated the deal with Film Sales Company prexy Andrew Hurwitz. Produced by Ami Armstrong, "River" preemed at the 2007 Hamptons Film Fest, garnering kudos for Eigemen's screenplay and Janssen's perf. A theatrical release is planned for spring.
