I think they're just "some" Wolverine and Spider-man, I have to check the first issue again. If I recall they started in a completely destroyed alternative universe with a backstory so that it's not the 616, I could be wrong though.
Pretty sure its canon. Spidey mentioned that they're avengers or something.
