And even greater.. Johnny Depp will play Willy Wonka! omg I know he is perfect for this role. I couldnt even think of a better one!

A Peek at Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka?

UK's The Sun claims to have the first picture of Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka in director Tim Burton's adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which comes to theaters on July 15. The tabloid says "The 41-year-old hunk wears a top hat and large dark glasses for his role."
While it hasn't been confirmed as being authentic, you can view the picture at the link below. The Warner Bros. film is currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in England.

Thats the real deal - but hes sporting a weird haircut under that hat and he doesn't wear the shades all the time.
The sets for this are breathtaking. Much as I like the old Gene Wilder movie version - this is not going to be a re-run... this is more tellytubies on crack via Nighmare before Xmas. I have huge high hopes.
Depp is a good actor but I can't see him playing wonka at all!

I have high hopes too. I might have a hard time seeing Depp as Wonka, just cuz Wilder's performance is burned on my brain. But, if anyone is crazy enough to pull it off, it's John boy.
