* Superman is actually an intelligent guy...
Superman has shown incredible intelligence and computational abilities; his mind works sharply and with extreme speed relative to earth-humans. His analytical powers are impressive — he is able to use his senses to read information directly from machines (and, with careful usage of his heat vision, he can even reprogram machines). Recently after he regained his powers in the "One Year Later" arc, his brain's intelligence has increased and it operates with much greater speed, procession, and analytical prowess, to the point he can recall things in such detail that he knows the ballistic of every shot by Bloodshot before, the vector and mass of each and every one of Riot's bodies, he can see into one of the most advanced Kryptonian Sun Stone Battle Ship and watch energy patterns shift and change, trace command signals at light speed down branching, maze-like pathways whilst, at the same time, finding one small knot of circuitry.
before flaspoint flash without a doubt.
as for after the "big changer" the only interaction between these two was Justice League #2 where it seemed to show flash as faster but superman was able to time his "flick" just right. Soo based on this instance alone, had flash not been cocky and knew who he was dealing with it wouldn't have happened. Flash would have never been touched.
......not to mention people have to take into consideration this is Johns and look what happened last time he had Barry "race" superman back in rebirth.....

first of all that wasn't the point. Also no the part im speaking of is after he has "shed" the black flash and attempts to run into the speed force. and when Clark brings up the past races barry says "that was for charity" and blows him away.....
your right what happened did happen but thats more of an argument for me don't you think? On panel It was 100% obvious that superman wasn't as fast but was fast enough to calculate his aforementioned "flick" in a timely manner.
As for Superman 709 Id like to point out a few facts...
1. Superman says it himself "of course who else could be fast enough to pull this off?" "no one but the flash"
2. you can tell by the panel clark is pushing himself hard to get his hands on flash.
3. Flash wasn't even in top shape because of the kryptoain band that was flooding his mind with information.
4. At the end superman has to ask flash what things look like while he's running around.
point is anyone that reads Superman 709 would see flash is even portrayed as faster in that book also.
anyways i could set here and bring up other instances of Flash(s) being portrayed faster then superman but instead my point was Johns has a major hard on for The Flash and he's working on Justice League. So im sure it will show in the books.
^That was when barry was black flash. Read Flash:rebirth again. Whatever he said has no meaning on how their races actually went pre-crisis as superman was faster than flash back then. Of course Johns has a hard on for flash, but even he wouldn't show a normal flash completely pwning kal. He caught him anyway that shows he is not that FAR behind in speed people like to think. He's also stopped professor zoom in mid-blitz, the same zoom who wrecked entire flash family single-handedly. I doubt anything johns can do will be worse than "It was for charity".
nope im sure i have read it enough.....in fact i can post the scans.....
well id love for you to show me a high end superman feat that compares to wally's big stunt in japan....you know when he carried every citizen out one by one(in some cases 2 by 2) and into safety in less then a second...(i forget the city off hand)
anyways flash was obviously not going all out in that book and superman was still having trouble catching up....
see from the scan he was already "shedding" the black flash. then zoomed off...
sorry i forgot to post the scan lol! anyways as everyone can see he's "shedding" the black flash.
so sure if superman was flying as fast as he could then he may fall just right behind flash going all out but I want high end feats of superman coming close.
there is also the instance of Flash209(i think) it was right after The Spector(hal) erased the memory's of Wally's identity.....sure it wasn't a legit race superman wasn't keeping pace well. There was also when Jay and Superman were keeping side by side and its brought up how much faster wally is. That was from DC 1st. although when it comes down to it, all of this is pretty much mealiness because of the reboot. Now just because superman is DC's big blue baby doesn't mean johns isn't gonna portray him as faster. Im not saying he will but keep in mind every encounter johns has had flash and superman on the same panel flash is faster.......as for zoom, good for him barry has stopped him and so hasn't Wally. So what im saying is just because (lets say) lex wrecks the superfamily doesn't mean each one of them can't take him down one on one...

Honestly though; Flash is faster than Superman; as he should be. I just don't like how Johns basically made Flash be a bit of a troll to him in the book; it was a tad disrespectful imo, and it's one of the reasons I'm glad Johns isn't writing Barry anymore (bar JLA), though I will admit he seems to have softened his stance a little.

as soon as i heard Johns wasn't writing flash my first thought was "they must have got on there knees and begged" lol. As for the Justice League Im getting the feeling that each character is really going to emboss who they are. Like wonder women the warrior, Batman the thinker, Ect....
I don't see Superman finger flicking flash as timing it just right, or luck. I read the issue as Flash being cocky and gloating how fast he is. Not realizing (according to the scans) Superman is right there with him.
Sure Superman swung and missed Flash several times at first. Once Superman realized how fast Flash was moving he matched his speed and flicked him.
Of course the DC reboot is still fresh. In future issues it may show Flash as faster.
