Tool

Oh, most of my favorite song lyrics come from Tool, it's no guilty pleasure. My favorite is probably "Would you die for me? Don't you f*ckin lie" ✅

"don't you step out of line don't you step out of line, don't you f**** lie"

yea something to that effect if i am not mistaken
😉

Of course Tool have straight forward lyrics.

Their most straight forward songs lyrically are Ticks and Leeches and Hooker with a Penis. The latter more so.

Besides that I don't think, as a whole song, Tool have "simple" lyrics.

At the end of it, professors use Tool lyrics in lectures. Can't say I have heard of that happening with any other band.

depends on what the lecture was about i suppose. i'm sure Rage Against the Machine lyrics could fit into lectures depending on the subject.

really alpha??? thats amazing?? do you know what song they quoted from and what professor or school this was from? 😖mart:

tool and rage did a song together, maybe the teacher could lecture off that and kill two birds with one stone.

"depends on what the lecture was about i suppose. i'm sure Rage Against the Machine lyrics could fit into lectures depending on the subject."

My point was that I don't know another band that have had that done, not could.

To Junkie: I know Parabol/Parabola and Lateralus have been brought up for sure. There was stuff on Aenima also, don't remember exactly what though.

I have that song 😊

In my philosophy class we were talking about Aenima. It was pretty damn cool. I then blasted it while driving home from school 😄

cool 👆 i love the lyrics off parabola
"Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing."

pretty positive too coming from some of the lyrics off of tools other records. I like how lateralus came across as rather uplifting and hopefull in allot of the areas of the record.
Word off the grapevine is they have been working on another record, I wonder how the new one will sound? Every record has been something a little different and with a new twist so i am excited to see what comes next

🤘

I don't know anything about the new album...other than it's supposed to be out in 2005...

yea what i have read is that while M is touring around with perfect circle Tool is coming up with some of the musical parts but they were quoted as saying they are not going to get too ahead of themselves before Maynard is with them. So i can assume it will be out sooner than later i would hope.

i just thought of something quite amusing...
this thread titled "tool bites" is turing into a thread were tool fans discuss their music

😆 😂 🤣 😂 😆

CCR, Bob Dylan and such are standard when discussing the US' attitude towards Vietnam.

really i though good ol bob was pretty non involved in the anti war movement? 😕

He tried to never directly mention the war, but he still mentioned it many times in his music.

yea if you think about it there have been probably more musicians than you would think that are studies in a school but still nonetheless its pretty cool to me tool is one of them, i would get an A on that day for sure 😛

Many artists lyrics are used in Psychology classes when talkign about depression, I remember we got into a big discussion about some of Elliott Smith's work...

there was something in the new issue of Kerrang Australia about Tools new album, with Meynad being out touring with APC the rest of tool have been making new stuff and waiting for him to finish touring

That's how they did Lateralus.

While everything with Tool's old label was still in the court process, Maynard went and did A Perfect Circle with Billy Howerdel, the other three members of the collective continued to write music, Maynard wrote lyrics on the road etc. Then when everything was sorted, they came back together and started making the album.

Allegedly it's alot heavier this time, while keeping complexity.

I don't predict anything by Tool, coz you can't really.

Australia always strikes me as a place that has quite alot of Tool fans for some reason. Tool said they like performing there and I sat next to an Australian guy in 02, maybe that's why.

I didn't know that but I could definitely see that happening.
