Tabby, you're in danger of setting yourself up to be one of the people who (regardless of whether you like the phrasing or not) don't "get" Tool.
Anyone, without exception, who calls Maynard a one-dimensional front man, if that is what you were doing, clearly has no understanding of what he's saying or what he's about. Coz it's multi-dimensional stuff.
You come out with "Enough with this crap about not 'getting' Tool." Then you make comments on the band that proves you are one of those people.

whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down people. i was trying to be nice, i was trying to be nice, i was really impressed by what i read and i was trying to say that i was amazed at how intelligent he is. i havn't had a chance to read any of his interveiws, and i was saying about the one dimensional front men because we live in a world full of them. i was really impressed by how deep the guy is and how he is nothing like the paper thin (intelectually) band front men we've been seeing as of late (simple plan, good charlotte etc). i had no insults intended for the man. sorry if it looked that way
Of course, Norma Jean, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. If you think Tool bites, then you can go ahead and think that, but don't expect to create an intelligent debate when you open with an unsupportive statement. How will anyone ever take this thread seriously if the first post is a fragmented sentence?
Besides the fact that fans go nuts over the fact that he's bald and he paints himself blue, why do you dislike the band? Are the guitar parts too generic, do the vocals not have enough melody, are the drums too mellow, is the bass part too boring? What is it that makes you dislike the band, really? The only argument I've heard from you is that "their music is bland." Where is your support?
well done, you've obviously never read any of my posts. i've never said i dont like tool. not once have i said, i think tool are a bad band. i really like Lateralus. the only thing i've said i dont like about tool is how fans get a little excited when describing the band and make them out the be the be-all and end-all of music. you came across as someone who is inteligent AC but your not making the image stick with me when you dont bother reading my posts

A) I do read your posts, wrong assumption to say I don't.
B) You're in no place to speak to me of intelligence following the post-modernism farse that you have conveniently and swiftly put into the past.
C) When did I say you didn't like Tool? I said when most people who don't like Tool ACT like you, it pales in comparison to Tool fans. See part A and heed your own advice.

fair enough, I'll give you that i missed the word "act" and got the wrong impression on that one.
but i never questioned how intelligent you are, i said you'd always appeared intelligent, I've never said your not, i said that I'm having a hard time believing it when you act like that. and my description of postmodernisim (i.e. each person interprets media in a different way, no one person interprets it in the same way) was correct. and i think it was you who first said it was "in the past"
