USH'S MATRIX GAME- The Dojo

Let it not be said that this did not get a spectacular start! Coeus jumps lithely into the fight, sword outstreched!

Coeus rolls +3. Oh my... a dead-on hit!

THIS is going to hurt. Base damage is calculated with Speed added to Strength (this power MAY change...). So that makes... 16 damage... plus four for the sword. 20! OWWWWW!

Good shot sir! Fire takes 12 damage! He fair got you with that, Fire, it must be said! Your move, hope it is a good one!

"Ouch that was a sneaky move you pulled"

Whirlwindblade assault, I go at him from all sides (weapon, jade emperor, -4 focus +3 to hit)

(defend) and if damage>2, then Tail of the fox (-2 focus, +1 exertion)

Standard deal, eh? Well, Fire rolls -2. Which ends up at +1, for five damage! His continual web of death gets a good hit on you, Coeus- but with practiced style, you slip out of the worst of the damage, two focus and the exertion reduces the damage to one...

Coeus: 3/1/1

Fire: 11/12/1

Coeus, your move.

well, seeing as how my Sword attacks are still faster than normal, i making a sweeping attack from the side with my sword (weapon)

I'm not lettuce!!
Ill fight, but there has to be guns
i have to have my desert eagles, knives, throwing knives, and a m-16

I use foxe's retreat to dodge the jab (dodge, -2 focus)

What sort of garden variety fruit brings guns into a dojo?

In practical terms you'd get maybe one shot off before we were in close combat and it would be natural ordered if it hit!

And I thought you LIKED Equilibrium...

You will note- Tiberius disapproves of guns...

Anyway. Looks like the force of your start put off your timing, Coeus. -7 on your roll doesn;t quite cut it... Countered. Fire, now is your time to get back into this fight!

Burn, my apologies. Bad guys rolled well- +6, +1, +7. The +6 misses due to the trusty Willow Step. The 7, I am afraid, is a hit, for another 3 points of damage. Damn them!

New round, focus refreshes.

Guard 1: Ok
Guard 2: Ok
Guard 3: Ok

They have each fired 12 of 17 bullets.

Burn: 8/8/3

Your shot, Burn!

I did like equilibrium, the duel at the end was superb. This however is not equilibrium, how many duels do you see in the matrix which guns play more than a passing role in?

Martial arts are the true duelists weapon in the matrix.

That being that, if the only duel I'm gonna get is against someone with Deagles, bring it on manno!

Ush, can I use laughter of the turtle please?

Maybe Burn wants to bring in a new style!

And yes... yes you can...

seeing how Coeus left himself vunerable for a counter attack I use a fast jab (hand of the emperor) to trust my sword in his belly (weapon, -3 focus)

guns are good, new stlye of dueling, and i can think of many parts in the matrix where guns were used primaraly, just because Neo doesn't use guns doesn't mean they are bad.

speaking of that,
two shots this time, at guard number 1

i quickly bring my sword around my body, swinging so that it will deflect the blade off to the side (defend)

Let's go through the duels I can remember.

M1
Morpheus vs Neo in dojo. No guns.
Neo vs Smith in subway. Both empty one clip then the real fight begins.
Morpheus vs Smith the toilet. No guns.

M2
Neo vs 3 agents. No guns, not really a duel though.
Seraph vs Neo. No guns.
Morpheus vs twins in car park. Some guns, both parties prefer up close combat though (M with sword Ts with knives).
Morpheus vs agent on truck. Sword and unarmed primary weapons.
Trinity vs Agent. No guns at start, T only pulls weapons when she is trying to run away after getting her butt kicked.

That's about all I remember in terms of fights that can really be called duels. Against mooks guns are used a plenty but in a proper duel it is clear in the matrix guns do not cut it, all of them fight with their primary weapon being martial arts. If you can think of a coutner example please give it!

[Translation- 'mooks' are mundanes]

I think everyone is aware that guns are less useful when taking on singular powerful characters. They still, of course, have avery valid role in the game.

+1 for you, Burn. Even with just the two bullets that's enough to blow away that guard... poor guy! They don't have much of a chance...

Last time the two remaining can make a three bullet atack... which they now both do!

Meanwhile, Fire and Coeus, your blades clash again as your duel continues... oh my! A +7 for Fire! Your timing is PERFECT, Fire, as you flick away Coeus's guard and stab him solidly, for eleven damage!

(Coeus, that goes down to 7 if you want to spend your two for Tail of the Fox)

Coeus: 3/12/0

Fire: 8/12/0

Nice blows, people. Keep it up!

BTW, I am goingnto set up the pracitce mission soon, but in a seperate thread- I think the Dojo is going to be in continuous use for a while.

Don't forget you can ask for alternative settings for the Dojo!

Mooks???
were gonna be against more mundanes than agents or other things, and i want to be a part of a team, but my offer still stands, i am willing to show you how to dual with guns.

willow step, cartwheel, to the right

This kinda thing is worth a bullet time.

The amazed guards, having fired over 50 bullets at you and had them only just graze you, are treated to another great defensive display as you wheel away from them... still, again, anotrher one gets lucky. +8 gives him 17 to your dodge of 16- for four more damage to you, Burn. You have been a bit unlucky this fight but these things can happen! Something everyone should note.

Your shot, of course.

well, if i keep shooting the lucky ones, there wont be any lucky ones left after enuf time!
2 shots at the lucky guard
