i think smith taking over bane's mind is simple and happens everyday like when a virus enters our computer and takes it over deleteing whatever it wants and stuff... smith was a virus and took over banes mind.. bane sounds liek him self and looks like him self but doesn't think like himself.. just like the computer after a virus.. it still looks like a computer and you still have to use a mouse and keyboard... just the hardware of the computer is different...
oh and when the orcale says not in this life it means exactly that... not in this life. he dies and comes back to LIFE the key word meaning it was a new life that he becomes the one... i thought we all knew that...
i could be wrong though...

maybe the blind man isn't really blind? The question is, was there a man there? or is he a program? A....sentry perhaps? To give the Oracle warning to the approach of anyone dangerous?
Another thing that I never understood: If Agents are programs, and have increased strength and speed and abilities due to the fact that they know how to manipulate the system(Same for the twins, etc), then why for example, couldn't the keymaker bust out and 'matrix' someone?
I, for one, would enjoy seeing the oracle running on walls.
If Neo's powers were just telekenesis or to "move or stop objects," then they would be too limited. We have been told that he can "alter the matrix as he [sees] fit." We have to interpret this as that as long as he understands fully that the matrix isn't real that the only real limit to his powers is his mind (which he has demonstrated is pretty free). In otherwords his powers are potentially unlimited.
As for the means of his powers, when he plugs into the matrix, it's like he's feeding it his mind data. It cannot reject his mind. In this way he is sort of one with the matrix, and because it cannot alter his mind(This is his fundamental power as The One, otherwise he would be no different from other freed humans in the matrix) it must succomb to his will when there is a confliction. This means that his powers lie in the extent of his belief. For example: if it is written in the matrix that the daggers(in the Merovingian's) are at rest, but Neo believes that they are flying towards his hands, since the matrix can't force him to believe that they are still on the wall, it must accept that the daggers are, as Neo believes, in fact flying towards him. This then becomes what the matrix sees as truth and consequently tells all those plugged into it. Naturally, forcing yourself to believe something is not easy which is what makes Neo unique.
As for the programs in the matrix: Because they aren't rules of the matrix, nor are they a part of the matrix itself, Neo is not directly connected to them. This is why he cannot simply make the agents disapear(or do something to that effect); however, all of the programs in the matrix are still subject to the matrix's rules(as well as what the matrix has made to be truth) which is how Neo, who can alter the matrix itself, can still have a measure of controll over virtually all programs in the matrix.
Probably the reason that he hasn't become some sort of "Uberneo" is because he has only, of yet, discovered a limited extent of his powers and I think that in the third film we can expect to see that as he becomes more and more in controll of his powers there will be more absolutely ridiculously amazing things that he does.
Let me remind you that everything I have just stated are simply my own conclusions which I have drawn from the films(as well as the video game and Animatrix) and I by no means beliave that I am neccessarily correct in everything. I just think people should draw what they can from this.
Thanks for reading this.
teddybear> you can simply say 1 line:
"neo can change the code to some extent" bcoz he is the1
now, i have something interesting...
we all know that now smith is controlling the bane's body as he has entered his mind. this can further be explained that the code working for smith in matrix is now converted into electrical impulses which a human brain can interpret(in this case the brain chosen is bane's) now if smith (in banes mind) tries to do the things he did in the matrix (he is supposed to do as he has been exactly converted) then what will happen? as the things he can do in matrix arent possible in real world. but we can say that they are as neo did in the end of reloaded(he stopped the machines). so this concludes that smith can do all things in real world as well can neo? any arguments?
this also means any other program form the matrix can be given a specific body in the real world (if it is) then y dont they make the oracle to do the same thing. they can make her to use that phone and be there in the real world!
It is my belief that Neo can't use all of his powers in the realworld, rather I think that when he went to the source, he gained some kind of connection to the machines. This would mean that he can stop machines, but not, for example, fly.
This is an interesting thing that I noticed which sort of backs that theory. Councelor whatever says to Neo that the fact that Neo can't sleep is a good sign that he is still human. In the end of the movie he is in a coma aka sleeping more soundly than perhaps he ever has. This leads us to believe that there is some part of him that isn't fully human(which would be confirmed by a connection to the machines).
Also, the reason Smith could manifest Bane's body(or whatever you want to call what he did) is because he could copy himself onto him in the matrix. So the oracle couldn't do this because she doesn't have that ability.
