USH'S MATRIX GAME- TRAINING MISSION- Capture the Flag

Started by Phoenix36 pages

I fire three bursts at Coeus ((Both guns blazing))

Uh-oh- this looks bad for Coeus...

Ok, let's take things one at a time.

Rade, Heph is right- Ares switched his fire to the South Side and killed your last opponent! So you are free to act. If you are feeling bold, you could use that Vertical Charge to run to Castor and engage him!

Cloud, yup, sorry, you've been in the firing line too long! +2 on your attack roll wouldn;t be enough to kill the next one along, but I shall rule, as I did with Rade before, that the Trinity Kick sends him flying off the balcony to his death below!

Right, Heph and Burn have to exchange strikes from LAST turn. Heph seems to be not dodging so I shall assume he just Defends (he can always use Shielded in Life if hit...)

The two of you tangle around each other, Burn trying to get his guns around for a shot. He fires! He rolls +1! A glancing hit! Heph, that's six damage to you- tell me if you want it reduced with Shielded.

Heph then Bites a One-Inch punch at you, Burn- a nerve strike to your head. Now, I know Burn is Fox's Retreating this one... Heph, you roll +1. 16 to 16, a dead-on hit! Burn may be a gun specialist, but he is not a weak guy, and even with the Bite that only goes to 4 damage. But that is 4 damage he did not want! Burn, you are now Wounded; -1 to all attacks, as you stagger back from the nerve strike.

Now we have Burn and Heph's attacks from THIS turn! More gun shots from Burn, I assume. Burn would Fox's Retreat again- but he is out of Focus. Uh-oh.

First, Burn's shot. Gah, -3... not going to hit Heph, who almost contemptuously spins out of the way.

Heph follows up his previous nerve strike, Seraph style, with a Strike of the Subtle. He rolls +1, making the final total 16 to 13. A total of five damage- wounding Burn a second time as Heph jabs his fingertips into Burn's abdomen.

Ok, Burn, this is NOT GOOD. You are faster than this kid but he is too focussed for you to fight! And no-one is heeding your distress call. With your wounds and Gun's disadvantage in defending up close, you are now fighting with a skill of 13 to Heph's 15. NOT good.

Your third attack will be next action, Heph.

Ok, Coeus is deciding to miss his attack THIS action (he could have attacked first if he wanted as he is at identical speed to his attackers, but I think that decision is fair enough).

Mors, your Hand of the Emperor strike rolls -2. Not going to hit, I am afraid.

Your Whirlwind Blade Assault rolls evens. That is -2 for your wound, +3 and, your body shot, cut and bleeding, you whirl around him with a variety of strikes, gives a 15 and a hit! 4 damage to Coeus that Coeus did not want... this goes to prove even a badly wounded person can be damn dangerous.

And then Virus shoots at Coeus. Oh my! Although MAX attack would have been four bursts from each, Phoe! Anyway, Virus rolls +1, plus two for burst fire, for a total of 17. A hit by two. The BGB means that the two guns do 3 damage each, for six, then the amount the attack hit by is added on- another 2. For eight damage.

Coeus, that takes you to 37, and now it is YOU who must Death check.

You roll +9. With a roar of defiance, you fight on!

OK, SWAT firing time again... gah! A hit on Castor (sorry, Vince, I guess you are busy but I have to move these things on!). A nasty one too, for nine damage. I won't be surprised if the SWATs don't fire again...

STATE OF PLAY AT START OF: Fifth round, fourth action

East Side Lower:
Ares 2/19/-1

East Side Higher:
Castor 15/22/0

West Side Lower:
Hephaestus 6/7/-1
Virus 7/21/2
Burn 1/30/4

Between South Side and West Side Lower:
Fire 9/19/-1
Mors 1/38/0

North Side Upper:
2 SWATs, ok

Cloud 7/26/1

South Side Upper:
Clear!

Rade 10/19/1

CURRENTLY OWED ACTIONS: Heph (1), Castor (1).

Heph, I know you have a banked action, but you banked it before you started fighting Burn- you can see how it would be unfair to let you 'charge up' before a fight to take multiple actions in a kung fu fight, yeah? You can use the banked action once you finish fighting.

One more action until focus refreshes- and boy, that will be welcome for some!

yeah, i do exactly that

Ok, Burn, Heph spins around and wants to plant a kick in your head.

You need to defend against that- but also, as the faster player, you get to act first.

Ok, Rade.

Castor- eeek! Incoming sword-wielding maniac! He's running towards you on the damn wall, and strikes! I need a defence. And a strike back, if you wish...

Actually, Rade, do you want to declare a pre-emptive defence against any attack Castor makes on you?

OK, i swing my katana around and around over my head, then bring my speeding katana down and around on a deadly arc towards Mors' head (weapon, increased by Water sword still)

Well, Mors has little option other than to dodge that.

Coeus, you roll +3. That is a hit for five damage. That takes Mors to 44 damage.

Mors rolls Evens on his death check. Sorry, Mors- one away from what you wanted. Coeus' blade sticks through you and you fall. You wouldn;t be dead with a small failure like that- not even in the Matrix- but you would be down and out the fight.

Mors' 'body' disappears from the scenario... commisserations to BB, but you fighyt well, sir, and got a vital extra hit on Coeus in your last moments!

Coeus, do I assume now that you are going to dodge like MAD every strike that comes at you?

(Jesus, Ive been away with shcool, work, and wrestling...And now I'm full of holes.)

If its possible, me being on the upper level of the room I'd like to leap of the balcony-type thing back to the lower level. (Where is the flag? Assuming its not on the upper level I want to move down to where it is. If it is on the upper level I want to move....quickly away form the sword guy in its direction. Using Willowstep to help me dodge bullets and what not.)

I also want to draw my 2 pistols.

......(I got shot....ugh....2 times....ugh.....)

Ok, Castor, here is the deal. You CAN make that jump at this point. BUT- that gives Rade's blow +2 to hit and you cannot dodge it. Are you willing to risk that damage to get the flag?

Um, yeah, dodge is...good, aside from the exertion thing, but yeah, i guess it is the best i can do...

Castor, go for the flag. Use your extra turn to move closer to the door. It looks like im probably going to be out this turn, so let me say this fast. GET THE FLAG AND GO!! If at all possible, people, get out of the fights and help Castor after he gets the flag. GO!!

Ares, get to the south door and make sure NO ONE makes it past you, if you have to fight them, so be it. Castor should, hopefully, be on his way soon.

Ok, Castor goes for it.

Rade, you roll evens. +3 three for the vertcial charge and +2 for the attacking a fleeing opponent makes that a Hit for nine damage! Ow!
Castor, you cry in pain as Rade hits you as you leap. On 31 damage, you are double-wounded But you are away, free. And your hand grasps the flag, and you keep hold of ti as you fall down...

You land upon the crates in the lower level. You have a spare action and can immediately run to the South Side as you draw your guns, if you wish.

CASTOR HAS THE FLAG!

TEAM A!!! FALL BACK!!! WE HAVE TO MAKE THAT FLAG COUNT!!!

(I would flee, but i am in death check as it is, so that would waste my time and give Fire freedom to move faster than if he uses and action to kill me.)

Ares, GET TO THE DOOR. Cloud, get down here, we need your help. Burn, its up to you, i know you are hurt, so either way i won't hold it against you.

He has the flag and uses his extra action to get to the door, and the action for this turn to move through the next room or whatever.

If possible I'd like to use Willowstep to avoid gunfire and what not while I run.

(Is it possioble to exert focus while runing cause if it will help me move faster thats what I wanna do.)

Well, the extra action WAS for this turn, your first action was the jump. Very well, you make it to the door!

There's no straight Focus-for-speed power, I am afraid. Also, remember the rules states that the FLag makes you move AFTER everyone else in an action, so it is every possible you will be caught! But the advantage is now suddenly with your team!

OK, I'll get down, on my next turn. WILLOW STEP for dodge.

Ok, Cloud, you have an action now, so you leap downwards, to the crates!

Just to keep up the waste-of-Fire's-time, i attack him with a sword attack, and just dodge any attacks that come at me (this is for whatever turn is next, whether it be this action or the next. I'll be back later.)

Gotcha, yup.

okie let's finish this Coeus
(nice trick with the flag tho)
I do a normal dodge on Coeus his attack/if I get hit I use tiger stance to get a reflex attack at Coeus
(MIGHT BE ME BUT DIDN'T COEUS LOSE HIS ACTION THIS ROUND)
as an attack I do a normal slash at Coeus his head
using both Breath of the dragon and Bite of the dragon (-8 Focus)
now with a lil luck that should Kill Coeus
