Britney Spears

I reckon it's a publicity stunt. nobody is that thick surely?

What happened to the old avi?

Okay, I have an announcement to make. I know it's a big hit, so without further ado, I have to say....drumroll...

I will be reviewing Toxic this very morning (or afternoon to our British buds)!

Ooooh......crikey.

What's wrong with the new avi?

Toxic

Let me say something I would prefer to keep to myself (so no one read the next sentence!): I actually woke up this morning and had a line from "Girls and Boys" going through my head. My point? There won't be any part of "Toxic" in my dreams or chiming with my alarm clock tomorrow morning...and I'll bet 10,000 Euros on that.

I understand there are trends in pop music and it's wise to follow them. In this case, "Toxic" has appeared to take the road that the artist Beck has gone down (of course, with the booty-shaking parts to co-exist with the new style).

Britney claims, "I love what you do, but you know that you're toxic." Oh, the irony of this timely review, eh? With Kevin sowing his oats throughout Europe (BTW, Gilly, that isn't you in the picture is it? 😉...ok, ok, play nice...), how appropriate for Britney to say that about her man. And also this song.

Oh, that is so uncharitable, mean and unpleasant.

Toxic was responsible for bringing Spears back into the limelight, and was the song that sparked the new fanbase's interest in the new album (MATM failed miserably)
Toxic completely wiped BOMT off the top off her successful list and returned her to Superstar status; winning her loads of rewards including her first ever Grammy.
It also had a pretty excellent music video to accompany it, but then, I'm a self-confessed pyromaniac, and fire is soooooo cool!

However, I will confess, I HATED Toxic when I first heard it. I thought it sounded like something you'd hear in an Indian Restaurant.

 So now you understand my rating? Maybe if I played it alot (in my sleep) it might grow on me.

It grew on me after I saw the video.

What I mean is, it's such a cool video that I couldn't help but like the song after seeing it.

i think britney is mint , shes been through so much and always comes out on top

On page 131 you said Britney was mint. What does mint mean? I hope it doesn't mean "untarnished!" hysterical

The Answer

If you look up the lyrics to this song, the result looks like a poem from a poetry contest that finished in last place. I wonder if Britney had any part in writing this song, 'cause she sure as hell didn't have any part in singing it!

A melody of what sounds like Aquawomen / Mermaids provide just enough monotonous drolling to completely drown out Britney's voice from the song. On tour, "The Answer" is probably the song she takes a bathroom break during. So what is the question? "Is Britney's bladder about to burst?" If the answer is yes, then it's time to perform "The Answer."

Question Answered.

its like cool ,good ect

Well, it's not a word I've used to describe Britney before, but Sammii, we like you! It's true though, she portrays a very strong female character, and for that reason is inspirational.

Anyway; I like The Answer. It's harmless. And it's got good rhythm. Up The Answer!!!!!

Botankus, check out posted picture. This is a screen cap from Me Against The Music and you can quite clearly see Brit's kabbalah band that you thought was her slit wrist in the Everytime video. xx

Me Against The Music

You know what they say about using your name in one of your songs...bad business...however, if you've got 48-year old Madonna saying it, it's got to be better! This is what the last generation's Marilyn Monroe had to say to the teen queen:
"Hey Britney, you say you wanna lose control?"
"Come over here, got something to show you"
"Sexy Lady, I'd rather see you bare your soul"
"If you think you're so hot, better show me what you got."

I'm not sure why they are against the music, but I'm not against the bass line, overall attitude of the song, and Madonna's not really that bad. I guess you start appreciating (relatively, please) Madonna more when you see the young bile that the industry is spitting out these days, ala Hillary Duff, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, etc...

I know you were comparing this song to an early one (Outrageous, maybe?), saying it stepped in when MATM failed. To me, that was backwards!

It was Toxic actually.

I really liked Me Against The Music. It was a completely different territory for Britney, and Madonna actually, and I think it was a good song to be the first released off the album.
It was heavily slated though (what a surprise) and didn't do very well in the Charts. What's the matter with these people? It's great!

I'll tell you what's the matter with them. They look like they just got rejected from the Cirque De Soleil auditions.

Check out Brit's trousers? Do you think they were spray painted on? My guess is, they were pretty damned uncomfortable!

That looks painful! What was wrong with the fish nets on the chick next to her? Were those already taken or is Britney not a leg girl?

LOL
Who knows?

Brave New Girl

Wow, Britney really is diving into all the new depths of music with this album. Now she's taken Tone Loc's "Wild Loc" verses and sped them up from 45rpm to 60rpm. And with a "totally '80's" chorus, this song has that retro feel that makes you want to call up Martha Quinn to ask if you can borrow her leg warmers and parachute pants. We'll check to see if the batteries still work in my boom box, and then it's off to the park for some skateboarding.

With the computer bopping and old-school Madonna-ing that the '80's Queen herself would be proud of (and wouldn't surprise me if she had a hand in), "Brave New Girl" would have totally suceeded in the '80's and definately have been a smash hit. Now, it could be easy to say that's a bad thing, but I liked the '80's.

In today's world, listening to "Brave New World" would probably send a teenaged girl to the toilet faster than if you told her something she ate had 200 calories in it.
