Well the whole wearing swastikas was a symbol of taking the piss out of the natzis. They did wear them upside down so the corners went the wrong way. J. Biafra said it best, punk may have really gotten big in england but the american stuff was a lot harder and serious and more brutal than the english stuff ever was. in particular, i absolutely can't stand the stranglers, antinowhere league, and of course Skrewdriver.
i like the UK Subs and Sham though.

System of a Down are not classed as punk, but they are good. Punk is like Deisel Boy, Lagwagon, NoFx, Thrice, The Movie Life, Goldfinger, Millencollin, etc.
