You weren't there, so therefore I've refuted your point. You never saw Pele play, but you can see videos of him playing and judge for yourself, formulate your opinion of his ability, the same can be said for The Beatles.
What you CANNOT do is judge if he was or was NOT overrated at the TIME, since at the time you were not there in the current climate. For all you know, we could be looking back at him fairly, whereas everyone back in the day may have overrated him to high hell, again, the same applies to The Beatles.
Then don't say it, simple as. When you say what you just said, you speak for everyone, which we know you do not.
It definitely does mean I have refuted your argument. You made the claim they are enjoyed MORE than any other band, correct? That is a factual claim, which has no factual proof, ergo...it's not factual, so you shouldn't claim it. Argument refuted.
WE know it doesn't measure? No, you apparantly do not, because you said it.
Typical of fans of The Beatles. Talk first, think second.
Proof? Or do you just have lots of agreeing opinions? Because lots of opinions disagree with you.
I say they are miles away from being the greatest band ever, and like it or loathe it, you cannot prove me wrong, just like I cannot prove your opinion wrong. "Greatest" is opinion.
They do not hold anything for "greatest" with any officiality or factuality, it is entirely opinion. You have no choice but to agree unless you can once again factually prove it, and you'd be the first.
Regarded as such by many, so what? It's opinion.
You need to accept THAT or provide proof to the contrary.

Which all boils down to a difference of opinion, and you are in the minority.
