I assume that like Izanagi, it's on another level and thus doesn't need eye contact.

No. It activated when Itachi lost the eye, that's also when the loop ended.
Ah yes.
And I see on the last page the eye is still gone- meaning Itachi did sacrifice an eye for this, and Edo doesn't heal it.
Meaning Itachi should no longer have Susano'o and... one of the prerequisite jutsu.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was somewhat under the impression it was inferred that they were making eye contact to some degree. This instance was different since Kabuto didn't need to see and still got under the genjutsu. Now it's more clear for me.
Figures:

I knew that Kabuto was impervious to physical harm. Short of a Biju Dama, there's really no way to physically harm him. He's really like a Logia User.
But, figures. Itachi had an ultimate trump card. And both his eyes are still open but it looks like his left eye is...not normal.

So how does trapping Kabuto in a loop stop ET and by extention stop Madara from kicking the shit out the Kages?
He can make Kabuto do the seals with his hands just like Kabuto did with Oro's hands when his arms didn't work.

hopefully kabuto pulls a part 1 and fixes himself like he did when tsunade hit him with that button scrambler move
Ditto.

See, I think that is just PIS. Itachi's eye should regen back to the state it was in when he was resurrected because everything else does.

You know what? I think I agree. The only reason he's at A+ (pre-skip) and S- (post) is he's supposed to be Kakashi's rival, and that's where Kakashi is. S- and S would make a lot of sense based on actual shown capabilities.
Anyone else agree?
Anyway, time to read Naruto. Boy oh boy I can't wait to see Itachi's newest broken ability.
You know, I like Sasuke. I like Madara and I like Tobi. These guys have a special technique called the Sharingan. It's not favored among a lot of fans for being so overpowered and stupid. I defend it because the jutsu come with a cost it would seem(save for Tobi's but we don't really know much about his), unlike say the Dust Release, the most broken thing in this manga next to Itachi's weapons.
And then Izanami comes along and fawks things over. Oh, it comes with a cost sure. I'm more pissed about it existing at all. How AWESOME would it have been to see Itachi and Sasuke trying to figure out a way to catch Kabuto in a genjutsu and get this fixed? They could have had some awesome plans, on the fly techs, some really good teamwork.
But no, instead Itachi just happens to have a technique that fixes everything. Final Getsuga Tensho had more foreshadowing than freaking Izanami. It makes the Sharingan look even more stupid and cheap than before(which...quite frankly is hard to believe) but it robbed me of an awesome fight opportunity. The best part about this fight was how creative Kabuto was being and the one instance of the Uchiha using their powers in a unique way, by breaking the other out of the genjutsu.
And it ends with this and I'm depressed. I started to like Kabuto again but Itachi just had to ruin it. F***ing Izanami.
So uh, anyone else think Izanami seems like a vague rip-off of Janenju, an ability used by Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho?
Kurama used it against an opponent that would not die, and it is done by inserting a plant into their bloodstream IIRC (A lot of Kurama's techniques rely on that).
But what it basically did was force the villain, Elder Toguro, to play a loop of fighting Kurama over and over again in his mind, but never able to win, only an endless stalemate (Normally the trauma would kill the opponent, but Elder Toguro is immortal so he just looped to infinity).
Just... Like Izanami.

I don't know if it's PIS that Kabuto tagged him since sage mode ups your speed. I think it's more PIS that Itachi could handle BEE and Naruto in taijutsu
I don't believe they are though. Just brought it up since it is the easiest cop out/excuse to use.
It was a brief skirmish, not a drawn out fight. In all likelihood, he would have been hit if they were going all out and the taijutsu fight was longer.
