The Official Naruto series Thread

It's possible Sasuke was just sleeping around and used his Rinnegan for subtle fetus exchange, thought no one would notice.

I thought it was obvious.
Sarada looks nowhere close to Sakura, except maybe the clothes.

Boruto's got a lot of catching up to do in this gaiden. The entire 1st arc has focused on Sarada.

Didn't know that the style of glasses were an inheritable feature.

I guess you learn something new every day.

If we're lucky Boruto will have almost zero role in the story. He's almost a spitting image of young punk Naruto and that's some shit we don't need to relive.

And I agree that Sarada is pretty cool for an Uchiha. I would be okay with her being the primary protagonist.

Chocho-

Ok, I am getting pretty sick of that joke too...

And did help save the world by reviving the 4 Hokages, and then healing the five living Kages.

So I can go on a mass murder spree as long as I donate the money I get from selling their organs to charity and it'll be okay? 😬 There's no way to justify him being alive.

Except take away the glasses and she doesn't look much like Karin either. I could have feasibly seen it go either way, frankly.

The difference between Naruto and Boruto is Boruto is a top-class ninja for his peer-group (age 10-12), he's intelligent, and is quite capable. He's just neglected by his father because his father is the top general of a powerful country's (and this country is borderline a militocracy) military.

Naruto's the genius of his class? Still not as interesting as Sarada's Uchiha drama.

Go on.

Boruto also has no realistic problems.

He is a spoiled brat. The argument that his dad ignores him is rubbish since Naruto does not ignore him.

He's not really spoiled, he's a 12 yr old kid that wants his dad full attention. Most kids went through that phase.

Except every child in the series I suppose. Boruto can play with his dad everyday. He's pampered.

Well they're shadow clones so does that really count?

Absolutely.

Sorry but when Boruto is compared to "I've never met my dad", he loses. Heck, he has it better than a lot of kids. Naruto can work a 9 to 5 and hang out with his kid whenever.

I also hope Sarada becomes the primary protagonist in the new series (even though I think it's unlikely, given Kishi's tendency to turn female characters into fodder.)

It will really be a change of pace to most shonen manga.

Naruto: Parents killed
Sasuke: Entire family killed
Neji: father killed
Kakashi: best friends die
Gai: father dies
Iruka: parents die

All of them handled their issues a lot better than Boruto sans obviously Naruto. He's a wimp.

Yes, I feel its a misstep. In this series with so many tragic backstories, Boruto just comes off as a petty brat.

I don't understand.

When did it become not okay for a child to want to spend more time with his father, just because other people have it worse?

He might be spoiled, but it's all he knows. His problems, relative to him, are big. It'll grow out of him.

His dad already spends time with him.

He's a whiny little *****.

Because his problems are smaller than the rest of his peers due to his dad spending time with him.

Just remove the characters with actual sad parental relationships. Do you think Ino's dad got to spend a lot of time with her? Choji's? Shikaku? Probably not. Ninja have stuff to do and it is their job to be out working for their village. Shikaku, in a pretty realistic scene, laments not doing much with Shikamaru except playing Shogi and Shikamaru never once resented his dad for it. None of the normal children resented their parents over anything so mundane as having to work. Not even really little brats like Konohamaru. The closest is Sakura complaining about how her parents are bossy but that is it really. And remember how much we all adored part 1 Sakura? 🙂

Frankly Boruto has it a lot better than a lot of kids in real life. His dad is the equivalent of the President but unlike Obama's children he gets to spend a lot of time with his dad. To say nothing of the average child with busy parents and especially kids who have parents in the military(which Naruto is). Boruto gets to spend one to one time with his dad every day, a luxury that is pretty significant, but to hear him say it he is ignored.

And you are quite right. Boruto is not obligated by any means to have an understanding of other people having it rough. Kids often do lack the tendency to see the world outside their own lives. But when the other children don't seem to be bothered by something mundane(Cho-Cho and Sakura are the closest and fan reaction speaks for itself there) Boruto will come across as selfish. Doubly so when compared to his parents, who at his age were pretty empathetic people.
