Using any jutsu beyond your limits can drain your life, as discussed early on, as well as some jutsu that do it on purpose, like the life transfer technique.

in other words, if Sasuke gets suicidal on us, he'll use Susanoo against Naruto in the next chapter and die from over exertion. and if he doesn't die, he'll cripple himself.

I wonder if Lee has ever learned to control his chakra in 3 years.

Naruto states that he really wanted to kill Nagato, and you can see him trembling.

Yes, but previously, whenever Kyuubi emerged, there would always be a cloak of chakra, or tails. The fact that those signs weren't there shows that he now has more control over it.

There really wasn't anything to trigger it after he was out of it. Just hating Nagato wouldn't do it. Or he would have done it as soon as he seen Konoha was destroyed by him.

He was standing on water though against Kisame clone. So either Kishi forgot Lee can't mold chakra, and therefore can't stand on water, or he's learned to.

Except he didn't just hate him. He wanted to kill him, almost like the times when someone he cares about has gotten hurt: He loses control, and allows the Kyuubi to take over so that he can kill whoever hurt the person he cares about. This time, even the kyuubi chakra breaks through, but he isn't fully overwhelmed like he has been in the past.
Minato completely strengthening the seal may also have something to do with it. He's a lot more mature now, and his view of the world has broadened, so he wouldn't fall prey as easily as in the past.

That's how I honestly view it.

He wanted to kill Gaara also but Kyuubi didn't even emerge. And Kyuubi-mode hasn't overwhelmed him since Haku. Course it also may have to do with the stronger his chakra gets the more he can control it, and Sage Mode gives him almost an endless amount of chakra as Kyuubi does.

I think Sage mode helps him keep kyuubi under control, since he had to learn to stay calm to do it.

well then kishi lied then.

and how did he become a chuunin?

Because becoming a chunin doesn't involve mastery of chakra. After all you just need to past the tests. All of which just test your skills, and Lee has a lot of taijutsu skill. He'll just never become jounin.

I still think in time he'll probably be able to learn that sort of "nintaijutsu" that Gai uses.

It's possible. Still amazes me he could even get out of the academy without any skills. It wasn't until after he graduated that he even learned anything useful. Naruto could at least do henge and even then he failed what three times?

They academy probably passed Lee because they didn't like Naruto. At the beginning, mostly everyone rejected Naruto so that could have factored in. Did the latest chapter remind anyone of Avatar, the last airbender?

omg i luv naruto i wish i were a ninja so i could use dark arts to there full extent

No. The whole "Summoning ethereal Ancient Gods, sprinting on the ceiling of a tunnel, warping matter out of reality, and people getting sliced across the face" kind of threw me off. 😄

Lee seems to be able to do chakra in purely physical ways, like the body flicker. I guess water walking is just simple enough for him, even though he still can't manage any ninjutsu or genjutsu.

Lee's pure speed. He never used shunshin.

Lee was in the graduating class a year ahead of Naruto. So that's not it.

becoming a genin does.

edit* lee was a "dead last" in his class (juxtapose to neji being the "top rookie"😉

genin just have to study the three branches of ninja arts, not perform them.

so kento is right. an interresting thing though is that guy was his generation's dead last, so maybe there is hope for lee to mold chackra at some point.
