If it's him being a genius that appears once in a generation, I'm with you on that, but I don't remember it being stated in the manga.
If it's him surpassing the 4th, I say hell no. He needs to get whooped by Raikage to truly begin trying to surpass the 4th 313

In all honesty, I think he'll completely surpass the 4th once he finishes this training arc.

As for the whole power-ups deal, I've never said that he doesn't get power-ups. Rather, people thinking that he never trains to control them is what I have problems with.

As for the Sharingan, I don't have to be a Sasuke hater to say that it has been featured extensively in Naruto...only the most ridiculous Sharingan fanboi would say that it hasn't been featured enough.

Sasuke has been said to have the potential to surpass Itachi; I wonder why Naruto has never been said to surpass Itachi [csm]131[csm]. Does that somehow mean that he'll never be a better shinobi than Itachi?
With these sort of statements, it all seems to come down to genetics and technique choices if you ask me.

After all, people repeatedly say that a generation always surpasses the previous one. If we took it one step further, it'd be younger shinobi surpassing elder ones. However, it'd be random crapola if Chouji were said to surpass Hiashi Hyuuga, and Neji was said to surpass Chouji's father.

And even the databook stats has Neji still quite below Hiashi.

it' probably means that his kaiten is stronger than any hyuuga's at a similar age, plus factoring neji learned it on his lonesome when he's not even supposed to know that move puts him in the genius class.

hinata can't do any of that stuff and she's main house, tutored by hiashi and now neji

Sorta like how Naruto is referred to as 'surpassing' Jiraiya, Minato, and Kakashi in creating the Rasenshuriken.

Showing the ability to do stuff greater than their predecessors is really what they're talking about.

Also on the gentle fist, Hinata's lion fists seem different from any other Hyuuga move we've seen. Maybe it's some variation? Chakra-projection into shapes for attack.

Perhaps that's the kind of stuff the branch houses normally use instead of the main family's secret techniques.

It would been cool to see what Lion Fist move could do. But all it was against Pain was a huge waste of chakra. But it is nice to see that Hinata is actually learning moves...

Even I don't remember if he still has been said to have surpassed Hiashi at anything, unlike Naruto who has surpassed his predecessors in Rasengan Mastery.

His Byakugan is said to be more powerful than anyone else's though, and he has the most potential for growth. Byakugan prowess is the only field in which I can say Neji is better than Hiashi.

Well getting him to back up and give Naruto some breathing room was impressive enough, it's not like she had much reason to worry about her chakra reserves. She was a chunin attacking an S-class!
