He never needed to go 8-tails, and in fact just did it because he got carried away. Hachibi makes note of this later on.
How could he die if he were the tentacle that Sasuke cut off?
Granted, I think he would have been pwned by Amaterasu had he not been so resourceful.

Bee is a master of his Biju so maybe going full 8-tails was the best way to kill them off quickly. Although why he didn't go into one of his tail-cloak modes is a mystery.
Amateratsu,well Sasuke's at that point, wasn't really a fatal blow. An inextinguishable nuicanse but Karin got hit in the back with it and was sort of clinging to life. I'm sure Bee was fine.
As for his fight with Kisame....well he was trying to rescue his teacher and all so that could've been an offset

Amaterasu is hotter than regular fire, but I don't believe it is as hot as it was originally stated - Sun temperatures. Another case of hyperbole most likely.
Amaterasu is highly dangerous as it burns for 7 days & 7 nights. By then, whatever is on fire will be gone.
Kisame + Samehada is just uber like that. The same thing would happen to Naruto if they fought, except that Kisame would overpower him even quicker.

I just went back and re-read 419: I always thought that the tentacle was a "trick" to get them to to think it was nothing and that Bee "arose" out of the tentacle when they went away.
However, after looking at page 12, again, mixed with the chapter Sasuke cuts that tentacle off, on, there were two tentacle segments, shaped the same with one having Bee in it and the other being empty.
So, yeah, that's my bad.
However, that doesn't change the fact that 8-tails gives Bee a lecture about his spur of the moment plan as Bee really would have bitten the dust had Sasuke not turned off the fire AND Bee hadn't tried to trick Sasuke into cutting off tentacles.
So, basically, what I said goes unchanged.
Also, Bee almost killed himself trying to do the things he did, in that fight.

He had to use almost all of his strength to summon and Bee himself said that Sasuke was one of the strongest people he ever fought…correcting the Hachibi’s comment about Bee having the upper-hand. Had Sasuke used Amateresu straight from the beginning, the fight would have been over, quite quickly. It’s called PIS (and CIS)…and Bee knows that he got off lucky in that fight.

Sasuke died like twice in that fight, and Bee could've killed himl a third time if he hadn't of let Hachibi out for Suigetsu to tank the blast, and Sasuke to get his Amaterasu attack by being all sad cause his friends are about to be killed. Sasuke's one MAYBE kill that was plot related means nothing really.

A simple Lariat would have ended Karin & Juugo, and by extension, Sasuke, leaving only Suigetsu.

Kisame wins by draining opponent's chakras and adding it to his own, making him more powerful depending on who he fights.
Itachi does not have a lot of chakra, and his moveset would allow him to beat Kisame.

A high-level genjutsu would do the trick. Kisame likely knows how Itachi fights, but we don't know if he has any counter-measures, apart from possibly Samehada.
Kisame has a shit-load of chakra, such that I don't think he would need any from Itachi. Chakra-draining should still work though.
Meh, by his own admission, he's still below Itachi.

Also, had Sasuke been the version he was when he faced Kakashi, Bee would have died. (AKA, he got carried away, which is really what he was talking about.)
Sasuke wouldn't have given a crap about his team-mate, let them get crushed, and Bee could have burned up into dust.
Pretty simple, IMO.
And, there's no reason to say that Hachibi held back his blast, at all. That's baseless. You have nothing to compare it against for a past feat. Also, the Hachibi seemed to get drained quite quickly from Kisame's sword. That's kind of telling that we were at the limit for Hachibi.
Why?
Cause Naruto wanted to go fox cloak, again, right after Kisame stole his cloak and Jiraiya told Naruto to cool it. Pretty simple, eh? 😉
There's no proof that those blasts can be "lessened" anyway. They could fire when they reach a critical state, and that's the end of it.
No matter what any of you say, I'm fully convinced, now. There is too much evidence for support of it and just speculation against it. There's no changing my line of reasoning until something comes from Kishi that contradicts my line of reasoning.
Also, Naruto + Yamato + Bee were not powerful enough to stop the Kyuubi, half powered and Bee mastered his Beast on his own. It took special chakra from good ol' mom to take down the half powered Kyuubi.
That means, at the very least, the half powered Kyuubi is 3 times more powerful than the Hachibi...further backing up what I was saying.
Hachibi = 8 tails
Half powered Kyuubi >= 24 tails (8 tails * 3).
1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 = 36 tails of power.
24 tails * 2 = 48
9 tails is 48 tails of power.
See how that works?
Only special Biju haxor chakras can take down the Kyuubi. teehee.
