Yeah, Kakashi states that the Uchiha clan's origins are tied to the Hyuuga Clan, which would imply that the Uchiha descended from them.

Well Temari is said to think at least ten steps ahead in battle, so she probably does go through a few simulations in mid-battle. But Shikamaru is stated to go through....what hundreds or something? I forget.

Hashirama was still excellent with Mokuton, which is pretty uber. He was likely an excellent Taijutsu specialist as well, though apparently, his brother might have been better than him in that category.
Hashirama might have other areas of specialty that we do not yet know about. After all, we recently found out that Tobirama could use Space-Time Jutsu and Edo Tensei.

I think he stated that he had two hundred moves planned out in the battle against Temari. The battle against Hidan and Kakuzu was in part 2, and it was a very important battle for him, so he must have had countless scenarios planned out as well.

I would actually just like to see Shino's father...fight. All we know of him is his bugs can eat poison from a persons body. Yet he takes his, genin, son on high rank missions, and they come back safe.

Eh, yea Asuma says in the Hidan fight that Shika can think of 200 different moves in an instant, and choose the best one out of them. I thought something else was said during that time..guess not.

Yea...but he's been making a lot of bold claims lately. Who knows what is what with him. He likes to keep secrets, and he knows how 'hard' it is to kill somebody. So I doubt he'll go blabbing everything to Konan even if he is about to kill her.

Though while Shino may be genin in rank, the Konoha 11 were mostly strong enough to be chunins by the time of the retrieval arc, and in some cases like Shino since the chunin exam. Not necessarily possessing the abilities needed to lead, but the combat power.

I share a birthday with Shino's Dad....so it would be cool to see him fight.

Overall ability, then. Shikamaru did have both one solid jutsu and the brains to use it to fight at chunin level.

I have for the heck of it been looking through the stats, and noticed that with a few exception, characters jump ranks at the same totals pretty consistently. It seems someone's considered for chunin around the 17-19 level, special jonin at ~23-24 or so, and full jonin at ~28.

Outside issues might speed them up or slow them down a little (politics, personality, etc.) and it doesn't take into account things like biju power or other X factors, but it mostly holds true, and most of the exceptions are noted (Genma commenting Sasuke and Naruto are already chunin level fighters, the sand siblings obviously being held back for the exams, etc.), and Shikamaru's total as-of the exams was higher than Sasuke's.

Hm... it occurs to me we've now seen every Akatsuki fight except Zetsu (and even got to see him do a few things).

How do we rate them, strongest to weakest?

Strongest: Orochimar.
