The scary thing is, Naruto's clearly moving towards the end game, while OP feels like it still has a whole wide world it is going to explore.

The current plot-line seems to be reaching the end-game. There's still a lot more Kishi could explore within the world of Naruto.

1) Kakashi's life and adventures after he got the Sharingan.
2) Yahiko and his adventures with Akatsuki.
3) Sarutobi Hiruzen's adventures when he became the Kage.
4) Events that take place well into the future.

So on and so forth.

You forgot Shino. He is the genius among their generation

Shikamaru > Shino.

Shino's talented, but he doesn't get the kind of acclaim Neji and Sasuke did, nor did he advance as quickly.

Yea, there's room for side-stories and even sequels, but the main story seems like it might go on for maybe 10-20 more (20 if the 'war' ends up being pretty big).

OP? Feels like it could do another fifty without blinking.

One Piece only JUST NOW had a timeskip.

It has some time before it is over.

Oh, someone else who may be argued to be a genius, though probably not the most popular choice: Sai. Danzo called him the strongest of his age and he really is quite skilled. High stealth, taijutsu, and nice jutsu too.

Sasuke's genius comes from his sharingan hax

NOW it does. But back in Part 1 he was a true genius.

As much as I'd love to say Shino is a bigger genius than Sasuke, Sasuke is the one who was top of his class....and that was before he had Sharingan.

It seemingly does now, but that's due to the fact that he's mastered it to such a level, and he now relies on it a lot.
Take it away, and he's still a genius, albeit one that cannot rely on the powers his genes would naturally afford him.

I'd even argue the mangekyo made him dumber 🙂

Consider the stuff he did with the chidori, current, lance, sword, etc.. That's not copying, that's cleverness and training and really quite impressive. He took Kakashi's jutsu and made it into a swiss army knife.

Pre-sharingan, he's got good taijutsu, speed, and fire jutsu.

Though his advance's not as insanely fast as some, that can probably be chalked up to peace time.

He's certainly become a berserker ever since he obtained the Mangekyo.

Don't forget Kirin. Harnessing Actual Lightning is something no one else has likely done before.

Yea. Remove the Kekkei genkai and even the cursed seal, and he'd still eventually become a top-shelf ninja.

it's a running gag that shino gets pretty much 0 recognition for things, and his presence is mostly overlooked

not sure who's more tactical in a fight cause they both get the job done in a similar fashion, but shikamaru may be able to use the shadow caused by the bugs to get shino...but then again shino knows all about his abilities and will surely have countermeasure and all that

shikamaru is most likely the best suited for the hokage seat of the two, his plans seem to be larger scale, and if he's not just using his own fighting abilites but basically the entire fighting force konoha has to offer, he's be uber.

Sure, but really, what would you do? If you have a couple jutsus that are so obviously better than everything else in your arsenal that it's practically obsolete, it only makes sense to use the powerful jutsu (especially now that he has EMS) over the weaker ones, unless you need to shake things up a bit to catch your opponent off guard.

^ They all came with a heavy price though. He became nearly blind a couple of weeks after receiving the MS. Susano'o also had him panting for breath due to his prolonged usage of it.

Now that he has EMS, as far as we know, the only limit he has should be his chakra level.

Yeah.

According to a tweet by the MS staff, Oda apparently said that the Time-skip is the half-way point of the story. 😐

Well, that's why I said especially now that he has EMS. Besides, Sasuke probably didn't think about the risks. You know what they say about how when you're young, you feel like you're going to live forever? Likewise, while your eyesight is fine, going blind from MS probably feels like it's a long ways off. And by the time he started to feel it, he was in the middle of the hardest fights of his life and it's not like he could just stop.

Not to rain down on your point, but Ino was also top of that same class.

Lies!

Yes.

There was a third person that tied for top and I don't remember who it was...was it Shino?

Hmmm, then again, there wasn't much competition in those days. Shikimaru was still being lazy, Naruto was still a moron, Sakura was probably zoning out over Sasuke most of the time. Sasuke was really the only stand out in the class now that I think of it.

Shino is probably the guy I'd say was the second most competant in the class actually. But Ino still sucks. I don't know who she blew to get that position.

I was pretty impressed by Sasuke learning that Katon at like, 6.

No. He's not.

Just to make it right
