I don't think so, I think the Senju stuff is merely being used to help them grow.

but Kabutomaru said that if he could not study Yamato, that Zetsu would do. what did he mean by that? did he mean that Zetsu is slightly less interesting than Yamato but still interesting enough to study, or did he know that Zetsu is part Senju clone?

I think the 'slightly less interesting' thing, or at least, "I'd like to go out and study both, but I can have fun with just one."

Yamato does seem to be the most flawless integrated kekkei genkai so far (well, depends on how well Madara has Hashirama's power. His izanagi is definitely very effective, but he's not shown any wood use).

Well, Zetsu's, must be pretty strong if Madara is planning on using them to conquer the world......That or he just believe in quantity over quality.

Considering they outnumber the ninja, strength through quantity I'd say.

I bet it's a variant on the spore technique- remember how the growing spores looked like Zetsus, from feeding off the chakra of the various ninja? Same thing, just eating Senju wood chakra en mass.

Individually they seem pretty weak, none of the ninja there had trouble with them (though, all of the ninja there were badasses), but you don't need individual strength with that sort of numbers.

While the S class could take out many of the Zetsu clones, I think they would be very effective in all-out warfare with the "normal" ninjas, Madara, Kabuto, the "main" Zetsu (Mebbe), and the revived Akatsuki would handle the S-Class.

Well, Madara has 20,000 more troops than the coalition and has Kisame's info makes them able to better prepare, but the ninjas actually have, well.... ninja's. Lots of unique, powerful abilities, Bloodline powers, Hokages, Jounin, Anbu etc are gonna wreck the Zetsu's shit unless the Zetsu's are surprisingly tough. Though the average ninja looks to be fodder (Sasuke took down like 500 without taking a scratch), while the Zetsu clones are probably going to be average or something. It's going to be interesting fight imo, I hope Kishi actually does something with it instead of just focusing on Naruto/Sasuke fights. Becuase that would really suck.

I would think the coalition is still stronger, but Madara's got a win condition other than military victory.

Madara showing his army kinda reminded me of Saruman and his army at Isengard...

and that Turtle couldve been the last boss in GOW3...

Genins are useful for threatening chunins, who are useful for threatening special jonin, who are useful for threatening full jonin, who are useful for threatening s-class.

Also, if used to back up someone of higher rank, that can be extended. Having chunin for backup can be useful to jonin.

we're forgetting another aspect of the zetsu horde; they can take on the dna of other ninja down to the kekkei genkai....madara has an assload of sharingan (and the rin'nigan eyes + senju dna also)

this could be huge if he can simple create the uchiha clan times X + senju/nagato power-ups (or whatever) and just drop them on the 5 village's domepieces 😐

In practice all but the strongest Jonin and down are swatted like flies by the S class.

My changes are in bold, with reasoning below:

Ao/C/Darui - A Kage wouldn't have anyone lower than a Jounin class ninja accompanying them as their bodyguard.
IMO, someone like Darui should probably be in A+. He has Water, Lightning and Storm jutsus, along with good swordsmanship skills.

Baki - He hasn't shown anything that puts him in Asuma's or Yamato's class.

Chōjūrō - He's one of the Seven Swordsmen. That puts him at roughly the same level as the likes of Zabuza. Chōjūrō also has a sword that can really hurt someone if it connects.

Gaara (Chuunin Exam/Sasuke Retrieval) - I'm not quite sure where to place Gaara during the Chuunin Exam arc. For now, I just put him in B-.
He's obviously far more powerful and in control over his powers during the Sasuke Retrieval arc. Which is why I placed him in A-. If you feel that is too high, I think he should at least be in B+.

Haku - He's too high in the tier list. He was beaten by pre-Chuunin exam Sasuke when they fought, forcing him to resort to his trump card. His Ice mirrors, while sturdy, can likely be broken down with enough force.

Kakashi Hatake - He lacked the Mangekyo in Part 1. He wasn't as impressive as he is in Part 2 as well, IMO.

Kankurō (Sasuke Retrieval) - You stated he got more powerful between the Chuunin Exam arc and the Sasuke Retrieval arc, just like his siblings.

Kurenai - Kurenai's got excellent genjutsu mastery, but we don't know how good she is in other areas. Her only combat appearance had her shafted.

Naruto Uzumaki (Post Rasengan Training) - Not very different from the version that beat Gaara, but he does have Rasengan added to his arsenal.

Naruto and Sasuke (VotE) - If you're including pre-Genin Naruto & Chuunin Exam Sasuke, their peak forms from Pt.1 should be included as well.

Temari (Sasuke Retrieval) - Same deal as Kankuro, just like you outlined.

Oh, and Suigetsu's A+ class. 313 Srsly.

Is Neji during the Sasuke Retrieval arc more powerful than he is during the Chuunin Exam arc? I think he likely is, but I don't know if it is a big enough of a gap to warrant a listing.
What about Chouji & Kiba during the SR arc?
