Choji would go down against any decent genjutsu user...which is one of multiple reasons I say that he can never be better than A.
I would not be upset, at all, if he makes me eat my words next chapter, though.
We could get "Kubo trolled" and all the forces are defeated after 8 chapters about everything but Choji and we don't know how it happened. (See Yammy from Bleach to see what I mean by "Kubo trolled".)

It's only rarely that we don't get a fight, and mostly when it's one side being outmatched. Like the Sound Four vs 2 special jonin. Or Anko vs Kabuto.

I dunno: I do not know of any single person that did not want to see the outcome of the Yammy fight...but yet we were ripped off. (I'm aware that it is separate authors...but it seems to be the lazy path for some fights among popular manga which includes Fairytale.)
Like-wise, I do not know of one person that did not want to see the Anko fight cause she's like a secondary fan favorite. Sure, we knew the outcome...but we still wanted to see a tad bit of it. 🙁
Also, Choji lacks the speed to be above A. I'm not sure what the requirement is...but I think a speed of 3.5 should be a requirement to reach S class. Sort of like 2 nature affinities for Jounin is required (or do-able). Even in the case of the S-class puppet masters (Pain and Sasori...Pain because he uses "live" zombie bodies as puppets that can move at speeds definitely above a 4 rating.)

Yammy we arguably got it twice- The trio vs Yammy, then the duo of captains.
Hm, when's it happened in FT? I can't recall any major character fights with it.

Well, he lacks the speed now, but yea, 3.5 is the lowest S-classes we know, Hidan and Tsunade. Both of whom had very high taijutsu skills and special toughness to help make up for it too.

But the only fight that counted was skipped over. All the others were just "fluff" to fill time, me thinks. When he was revealed as the 0, we definitely wanted to see him defeated or at least the outcome. Not to use a bad analogy, it's like the 4 play, all the action...and then pull out right before skeets. What's the point?

That's also true. He could easily bump up 1.5 on the speed scale in his super-butterfly form. He gets thinner and more serious...so it could be like a sage mode.
Here's my take on that mode: it's like the chakra storage Tsunade does and it is used to activate like a Sage Mode because it's a definite power increase which should improve speed.
You know what I mean? It's Sage Mode + Creation Rebirth (without the healing portion...just the chakra storage and the use-age version) = Butterfly Mode.

Yea, they're all similar in gaining extreme strength simply through huge amounts of chakra. Probably somewhat different applications, but the basic ideas are similar.
Will point out that we have Choza in A- so it is not a stretch to assume Choji will be bumped up. We don't know how fast Choza is and yet he is ranked rather high, mostlybecause, I assume, of his ability to go super size whenever. What Choji is doing appears more impressive.

And because he's a flat-out Jonin in rank.
We know that aside from being super-big, and fast enough to crush a Pain (he got Asura Pain, while Choji missed the Pain he was aiming for), he also knows a four-person barrier jutsu that he's supposed to use against Dan. So he's got more than his physical power too.

He was fast enough to hit a paralyzed Pain. He was fast enough to move the distance between him a Choji though, which that circumstance is arguable. And he certainly isn't attempting that technique. My guess is some other group is preparing it while he distracts him.
Physically, yes. Chakra wise, yes. Now he might even be more intelligent as well. Not Shika level of course, but Ino perhaps.
I always knew having Choji as one of my favorites would pay off. ^_^
