That's going from using DNA to restore the body (acceptable, but it's stil "magic" to using the DNA to restore clothing/tools) to creating things that should not be. In order to restore the rinnegan, he'd need the DNA from both the eyes and the body.

The "soul" remembers the rinnegan, though. There's two data inputs, not just one, is what I'm saying. The soul adds data too.

Okay, I'll roll with all of that. I really will. But what about Sasori? He transformed his entire body into a puppet and seemed to have normal motor skills when he got revived. I can't imagine controlling a puppet body with chakra strings and actual walking are similar.

His mind was a scroll-thing- I suspect he controlled the body it was plugged into as if it was his own, and then used it to pull the strings of the others.

I thought that was his heart? It did a lot of bleeding after all.

Nagato has been walking and running and jumping with his paths just fine and Edo Tensei should have given him a body capable of walking. So I just really don't get why he isn't walking.

Wasn't he himself walking though? His heart thing seemed capable of moving the puppet body just like he would his own.
I doubt transforming a part or all of your body and moving it about requires the use of chakra strings. This also makes little sense though to be fair.

Also, yeah, we don't have any indication that Nagato's legs are still damaged the way they were when he was alize. He was standing when he was summoned, and the way Itachi is carrying him shows that Nagato can walk, but has a bit of difficulty with balance and technique.

I just don't get why he would have such difficulty. I mean, this is the only SS guy we have so far and he can't walk on his own? XD

To be fair he can still do a lot of stuff, and his summons can help get around the mobility issue.
Also, Onoki can blow up Islands, yet he he gets a pain in his back every time he stands up. 😛

The 6 Paths of Pain was really what made Nagato so damn powerful. There's likely not a single ninja we know of currently, that can take on all 6 bodies without some form of help or knowledge and win, barring the Sage I guess.
By himself though, Nagato's likely S+.

Just the Choji and Kitsuchi changes discussed before. No-one else has really shown anything new.

Personally I'd put Jiraiya over Gaara due to being more diverse in techniques. I'd also put Orochimaru slightly over current Kakashi because of the whole Yamata no Jutsu thing.

Plus wouldn't current Madara be in the SS class.

Alphabetical order.

No feats so far, none that are even implied. But 99% likely that he is.

Hm, he did summon the Gedo statue... so perhaps we should put him at SS- for now, but with expectation he might move up.

In fact, it's possible that almost any S-class is stronger than the sage. Here's why: the whole "discovery" and "mastery" concept coupled with the "each generation is stronger" concept that is strong throughout Naruto. Really, the only thing the Sage had going was the Rinnegan and Jyuubi. His jutsu list was probably very very short since he was the first ninja. It seems like most Jutsus were created many years after the Sage was around, so it would literally be impossible for him to know all of the jutsus out there.

What do we know about his abilities?

He had the Rinnegan which allows him to have any elemental affinity.

He had "sage sealing" techniques as noted by the Kyuubi.

He was the Jyuubi host.

He MAY have used 5 weapons which were very powerful.

He died of old age.

He MAY have had mastery over Sage chakra because he IS called the "Great Sage" but that could be an honor label and not an indication of the "sage" chakra mastery. "Sage of Six Paths" is what makes me think it was just a title, not a Sage Master.

I never really saw that "new generation is always stronger" as some kind of iron-clad rule. That's the belief of Konoha-nin, but I don't think any of the manga characters would use it as an argument that they surpass the sage in power. Obviously, Madara does not believe he's surpassed him yet. If Madara hasn't, I don't see what other ninja could be a contender.

His izanagi was also stronger than any we've seen because it could both nullify and create. Plus now Madara's transplant has proven that rinnegan also = automatic use of six-path techniques. This with all the things you mention, is more than enough to place him above anyone else. Also, creating the moon is definitely the best feat in the series.

I don't think there is any connection between sage mode and the sage of six paths... they are just given that name because of their wisdom and mastery. It's a simple title.

Well, not really. If any of the normal limbs work fine, Itachi's eyes should still work properly. Obviously eyes don't work the same way limbs do, but I can't see why it would be any different.

The only thing Nagato has over Madara is the usage of 6 separate bodies in battle, and elemental jutsu most likely.
Otherwise, Madara can use every single Rinnegan related ability that Nagato has demonstrated (and possibly more due to his greater knowledge of the Sage), has his own Sharingan techs, can now use Izanagi without a restriction most likely, and has Mokuton. So he is SS- at the very least in my opinion.

Yeah, but simply being the Juubi's host is implied to have afforded him immense power. (We have him creating the moon, on his death bed, after he had already created the Bijuu and lost the Juubi's chakra)
He was likely in control of his beast as well, seeing as Naruto's new sealing tech allows him to near-completely suppress the Kyuubi.
Naruto unleashing 6 Tails would be more than enough to overwhelm a fair number of S class ninjas. That's not even close to half the Kyuubi's full power, never mind the Juubi's.

I agree, it would be impossible for him to know all jutsu out there. He'd need immortality or a very long life-span in order to master those jutsu. We also do not know if he could master the Advanced Elemental Release jutsus, and I doubt he could.

Personally I actually think that the Sennin could use advance elemental release. He has all the chakra natures, Izanagi, and a near infinite supply of energy thanks to being a biju. He could use the Naruto method and still probably create something.

The next generation surpassing the last isn't really proven IMO. Unless you count Kakashi or Naruto.....or Choji, I haven't really seen it.

Two prime examples I can think of are these:

Sasori>>>>>>(current)Kankuro

Tsunade>>>>>>>Sakura

Gai>>>>>>Lee
