God F*cking Damn, this movie was boring.

I meam, OMG, this movie was f*cking boring.

The only saving grace was the ultra bad ass villain of Hans Landa.

If I wanted to watch a f*cking foreign film with subtitles, I'd have rented a f*cking foreign film.

Brad Pitt and his squad of basterds were nothing more than comedy relief. I'd almost rather watch Death Proof again.

You are dead to me.

Again:

This movie was f*cking BORING.

The testicle shootout was fun, I admit, but the 30 minute diatribe preceding it was BORING.

BORING.

GOD DAMN THIS MOVIE WAS BORING!!!!!!

F*ck you, Tarantino. You need to go back to your roots.

To each their own I guess.

I watched it for the third time last night, still love it.

How DARE you! weep

More on topic, those preceeding conversations were power dances. Both the one at the beginning and the one in the bar. The interesting part/suspense comes from the power struggle with words alone. The conversations themselves were fun, as well. IMO, they were some of the most interesting lengthy dialogue moments in any movie. There are others that are better, such as 12 angry men (50s version), but not very many.

I understand you to a certain degree. The Basterds themselves should have had more movie time, IMO. Their character development was WAAAAAYYYY f*cking lacking, seems like they were just thrown in there. So many scences were unnesssary IMO, god they sucked. But all around I thought the movie was good, could have been better without all the romance crap.

BTW: See the "Fav tarantino films" thread if you want me to elaborate. (Yes I know nobody gives a shit about my opinion)

After a second viewing tonight, I must say that my opinion has changed.

This is a good movie.

The acting, well, was superb, especially by Christoph Waltz. Waltz, in my opinion, deserves nothing more than a nod for an Academy Award.

Still, I grew very weary of the long and drug out dialogue.

i thought the movie was boring too. imo was bad and the entire plot was a throwaway. you could miss the first hour and a half of the entire movie and not miss any crucial aspect of the plot.

That's because three quarters of the movie consisted of the same interrogation scene being re-shown with different actors. This movie was a mess. It is a broken movie. Aside from good acting, and cinematography it has absolutely nothing to offer. This is the first time when i've ever been compelled to say that Tarantino is all style and no substance. Inglorious bastards is a Quentin Tarantino movie without an over abundance of violence. I've always wondered what something like that might look like. To bad it turned out to be a pointless boring waste of time.

Hm, a lot of haters all of the sudden. Well, I disagree.

I found this to have more substance than a lot of Tarantino's other flicks. Did people miss the subtext about film violence? The fact that this movie was a tribute to the power of film itself? It had one of the most interesting, compelling movie villains in a long time, it had a great soundtrack, fantastic acting, script, cinematography, nail-biting suspense, parts of it were freakin' hilarious etc.

But that's just me; best film of '09 imo.

Well said.

And, as of right now, I'm going to have to say this was my favorite film from 09 as well.

I haven't seen Avatar yet...we'll see.

And, Imp, glad you came around to a "positive" vote. Even if you give it a 5.1, that's still positive. lol!

Christoph Waltz saved this movie, is all I can say.

I enjoyed the dialogue, but the pacing, in my opinion, was just awful.

i have to agree about the pacing. as wonderful as the movie is, it had some real problems at times, and even felt slow.

still pretty awesome though...

i've watched an hr. 1/2 of it so far. i'll finish it today. pacing is slow.

i almost find the moring boring. is it supossed a racy satire or a melodrama or what?

i always got the feeling that something dramatic was about to happen with the charaters but never does or when something did happen it was after a while. what kinda movie builds up suspense then kills it.

w/e. i'll still finish it. the movie reminds me of the game "The Sabateur".

it gets better near the end.

Saw it again....damn good!

I found the pacing to be refreshing and invigorating!

Sounds like you're talking about shower gel.

I agree with that. I just felt that most of the movie was unnecessary. Maybe unnecessary is a poor choice of words. Perhaps redundant is a better description. I think Basterds has quite a few fascinating and memorable scenes and also showcases masterful skill. However, it felt like most of the scenes were just a re-hashing of the opening scene. The opening scene was masterfully shot and a joy to watch. Didn't you feel that most of the interrogation and confrontation scenes were an exact replica of the opening scene though? I rarely ever have a problem with predictability in movies but when the awe of the Directors style wears off mid-scene and we still have another fifteen minutes until scene resolution i tend to get anxious.
