The Secret Fire is the "fire" that brought reality and life into this world, the fire of Illuvatar that is set in the heart of Ea. It is the Holy Spirit, in its Middle Earth form. So Gandalf is saying he is a servant of God.
I have been thinking about this, coz it's kinda interesting. Do you guys think that besides from being an Istari, Gandalf is also a Fire Maia like Arien and the Balrogs? Because look at it, it may be a coincidence but still, he claims that he is the Wielder of the Flame of Anor, which is the "flame of the Sun"...he bears Narya, the Ring of Fire, he's the Servant of the Secret Fire (though a lot of them are), and...he smokes and he does fireworks..(OK..maybe a stretch but still...😛 ) It's also kinda interesting that he fell in battle with a Fire Spirit but of a negative sort..(Balrog) 😄
I have no idea what happened to Elendil's body.
Falathrim - They are the Elves (they are Teleri) who didn't go with Ulmo to Aman when Osse persuaded them to stay with him 'coz he's gonna miss them and their music so much. They were called Falathrim because they live in Falas, with Cirdan as their Lord. 🙂
Well, Cirdan possessed fantastic foresight and insight into the minds of others, he could recognize true power when he sees it. Cirdan is an intriguing character that I wish Tolkien had written more upon. Who knows what really spurred him to present Gandalf with Narya?
This was what he said to Gandalf when he gave him Narya:
"Take this ring, Master" he said, "for your labours will be heavy; but it will support you in the weariness that you have taken upon yourself. For this is the Ring of Fire and with it you may rekindle hearts in a world that grows chill. But as for me, my heart is with the Sea, and I will dwell by the grey shores until the last ship sails. I will await you."
Cirdan trusted Mithrandir enough to give him that Ring and he says "with it you may rekindle hearts in a world that grows chill." It could also mean that Gandalf has enough power and ability to do that.
But then again, maybe those things were just coincidences. Perhaps Gandalf isn't really a Fire Spirit, or at least not intentionally. It just so happens that he seems to be a fire magnet. If you'll also remember, majority of the magics that Gandalf makes in the LOTR books have something to do with fire or light, other than the fireworks. But then again as I've said, maybe those were just coincidences.
LOL...am I continuously contradicting myself here? 😛
yes you are....🙂
but yeah lots to do with fire...like the pinecones in 'the hobbit'
but then don't all wizards in general have firey powers? or is that my imagination?....i don't recall saruman having any now that i think of it...and i don't know to much 'bout radagast...and i know less about the blue wizards....
now I"M contradicting MYSELF...lol
Yeah, his spell in Caradhras to make fire, his fireworks, his battle with the Balrog with the glowing thing in his staff, heck..include Denethor's pyre if you want..😛 (j/k..I'm fully aware that he didn't do that..😛 ) I'm also kinda aware that I'm stretching a bit coz maybe every Wizards could do that but why is it that Gandalf is always the one shown doing that? Saruman could do that too if you'll think about it since he's greater than Gandalf but he didn't do anything like that from the context of the book, or even in the movie. 😕

I know that much but what does it mean?
