The blessings are way better in regards to buffs. By far. Blessing of Kings alone is better than anything a Shaman has. Blessing of Might is excellent too. Totems that effect enemy players are solid, like Grounding Totem and what have you. And while they may get purged many players have macros that automatically destroy nearby totems.

But it doesn't matter what's better, not the point I was making at all. Simply the mechanic itself is very bothersome, especially while leveling and while having to be on the move a lot. It's annoying to have to spend 3 seconds before every pull or two popping totems down if you want them. Half the time I just don't bother, except for Totem of Wrath because it's too good.

well I'm thinking more like.. would a rogue want 10% of what they have, or a flat 160 something attack power.. when they can just get a totem slammed down that gives them over 70-80 something agility (which is 2 attack power per agi for rogues, yes?), not to mention agility boosts like 3 or 4 stats for a rogue in addition to what it does for other classes

I think the only thing nice about blessings, is that you can tailor them to each individuals needs..

but I agree that its annoying to recast them during leveling.. perhaps they can have some kind of out-of-combat totem tractor

I think the point here is, SaT hates WoW but is still playing it. Or if he isn't, one wonders what his purpose in the thread here is. Kudos, bud. Constructive criticism is cool, and can benefit any game/enterprise/etc. But honestly, you just sound pointlessly whiny.

🙄

Btw, D2 is a Blizzard game. At least they're ganking their own formulas, which seemed to have worked in the past, instead of other companies.

Yeah.. not to mention I've played the game since open beta..that must mean I hate it sooooo much.. you're amazing at reading my thoughts.. 😐
especially since you have to personally attack me to gain humor from whoever you're talking to.. because you're obviously not addressing me

anyways, if all you guys want to do is praise this game without any criticism at all, then fine thats on you.. but I give heavy criticism to anything that I play

Also.. a trap is a trap.. they dont act different.. you get in proximity, you recieve the negative effect.. you can spout crap about turrets all you want.. snake trap can be considered a very basic turret if you want to get technical

also.. D2 is blizzard north (who had 2 megahits on their hand).. and warcraft is blizzard in california (who only had 1 good series).. so you people obviously have some research to do

I'm not sure I follow you here. What's your point?

because the attitude is "oh its all the same company.. it doesnt matter if they copy their own stuff".. I'm sorry but.. its two completely different teams, and they deserve separate credit for their accomplishments.. especially when one team is responsible for more than half of their revenue and popularity.. and the other just sat on their ass with the same franchise and reaped the benefits of the other's ingenuity

but I think that should have been obvious.. /shrug

Sure warcraft is a very nice series.. but are there warcraft bootcamps? or are there starcraft bootcamps?.. I think that more than speaks for itself

i noticed i can pay 15 bucks for a sex change now...

Bootcamps?

Been there. Done that. So worth it if you've played the same character for three years 😐

-Yeah.. they train for hours on end to become starcraft world champs.. then they go to bed for like 30 mins or an hour and then get slapped back awake to play more

-Hmm,... I saw the sex change thing, but I still like the way my character looks too much to become a tranny.. all I did was make his beard bushier to suit the cold of northrend 😮

I don't see how bootcamps has anything to do with anything we've said 😐

I'm not exactly sure just who's spouting crap here. Assassin "traps" were much more like turrets who could target and hit you pretty much a screen away. Hunter traps are much more like mines.

Negative effect? Well, yeah, I guess you could pretty much call anything of offensive nature a negative effect. It's just that Hunter traps freeze you, slow you, spawn some snakes, or give you a DoT. Assassin traps blow the hell out of you and the whole Baal's Chamber in seconds.

Sorry, but the similarities between these two end with the name.

You dont because you werent really caring to follow along.. they are undermining blizzard north by saying its all "blizzard" anyways, so that makes copying OK (remember we were talking about classes being copy/pasted).. so I'm just giving examples as to why blizzard north is superior, and shouldnt be thought of in the same light as blizzard cali.. because they rape/d blizzard cali hard in terms of creativity, art design, and programming skills

Nope.. they are both programmed as pressure plates.. its just that the pressure plates on the assassins traps are much larger.. if they gave hunter such a large pressure plate in an MMO, they'd probably be the best at pvp environments.. specially with frost trap.. and the talented chance to root the victim of a trap
(remember also that d2's an action rpg, so you can dodge the projectiles, which means it doesnt really matter how far away the trap can hit you since you can avoid the damage.. they couldnt do this in wow because you are forced to take a hit due to the game design)

you just refuse to see this obvious similiarity because one is visible and the other is not.. the difference between the two ends there 🙂

Whatever though.. its cool if you guys dont want to see what I'm saying... its better to just pretend like I havent said anything since this seems to be the case everytime something negative is brought up about WoW

Except that Assassin traps can be placed many more than 1 at a time, can be placed at range and obviously serve a much more offensive purpose than Hunter ones. Basically, they can be spammed all over the place. Whoopty-doo! D2 and WoW are of two different genres! Precisely(I guess they couldn't rip that one off, huh? 🙄 ). Of course, Assassin and Hunter traps are so different because D2 and WoW are different genres, but that doesn't change the fact that they're different.

Maybe we don't want to see it because, well, it's just a bunch of crap being spat out?

Anyway, enough about the traps.

I'm seriously starting to doubt that it's even possible to come up with something that is radically different from the rest in the High Fantasy/Sword and Sorcery genre.

You seemed oblivious to constructive discussion and were content to bash, so yeah you weren't really my audience. But no, it wasn't bashing you. Your posts sound whiny....I'm just telling you what I'm seeing, not making judgments based off of it.

Well I can assure you.. I'm simply concerned for the games design.. and game design in general

I know blizz can obtain a fresh new interesting class mechanic.. and they're probably either saving it for their new mmo, or will give some kind of glimpse with diablo 3

I'm not sure how noting that they can be spammed changes things..
the only reason why wow doesnt do that is to preserve balance

I'm also willing to bet that if assassin was capable of doing around 5k crits and higher from far range, that her traps wouldnt be as offensive.. again.. balance

but balance wont change their purpose... all you've noted was the severity

So my Shaman just got to 75 today and I got Lava Burst. What an awesome ability, I love it. The burst Ele shamans have is just nuts. And I've been main healing all the northrend instances thus far, I really love their style.

Shaman is an awesome class. Priceless healers and DPS in any encounter really. During my time with the game, many raids we managed we wouldn't have, had it not been for the shamans 😛

My sister was excited today about a mechanical yeti she got, which helped her immensely in a few quests. And the way she described was pretty much exactly like leveling with a hunter because of the pet. I was like "yeah, that's why Hunters rock."
