Alien vs Predator [merged]

that is true, but that is because the first alien movies were NEW,original and largely story and character based. However, in an hour and 27 minute movie that combines two highly loved franchises. you cant exactly focus a great deal on the story and character introduction and development. You have to give the people what they want, and that is the orignal creatures that gave these franchises a HUGE following, with a decent story-line. This is what we got. We got a little more than we asked for aswell. Anderson, incoorperated a few of the atmospheric details from each franchise into this movie, and gave us the best performance from the second rate actors that were involved.

I didnt like how they tried to pass Predator off as a "good guy."

Yeah but never on the level that he was in AVP. The kindest thing a Predator ever did before that was hand Danny Glover a gun and let him live.

They diddnt make them out to be a good guy. That is just how you percieved it. The predator was no more a good guy than the aliens in this film. They were still there killing innocent humans. Letting the girl live and excepting her as a warrior was just a way to show the predators way of llife and osme of their morales. Letting this girl live diddnt make the predators out to be a good guy, any more than the previous movies did. Example when the pred let the pregnant girl live, and the girl in the first movie, not forgetting when he let the little kid live because he was holding only a toy gun. Also instead of dropping there gaurds to arnold and glover to duke out in an honorary bout in the previous films, they could have shanked them with there arm blades.

why dont we just carry this convo on in the AvP thread that is actually stickied? I mean, it makes more sense, and most of these topics in here have already been discussed in there anyway.

Overall i enjoyed the film, i mean it was accurate in terms of what the alien/predator act and look like. The effects were great. the acting was average, but there could have been more fighting. I actually liked the ending and when the alien popped out of the pred stomach....also what does a pred/alien look like? could anyone post a pic?
And when the queen alien was chasing the woman/predator, it reminded me a lot of jurassic park when the t-rex chased the humans! i liked it..

overall i give it an 8 out of 10 (yet i hated the part when one alien took down 2 preds)

i actually hated the alien queen's rampage. It too reminded me of Jurassic Park, but if you watch the Aliens, it was nothing like that. The opening scene reminded me of jurassic park, as well as all of the helicopter scenes... just a bit much...

Are we talking about the Predator mask with the "fangs" on the mouthpiece? That one was feature by one of the members of the Honor Council at the end of Predator 2.

The plain masks are reserved for the rookies, I believe.

I blame 20th century Fox for this train wreck of a movie! It's quite obvious they create hype from the classics and then make a crappy movie. They did it to the Star Wars franchise and now they did to Predator and Aliens. Kill two birds with one stone. Is just isn't right ❌

twentiuth century had nothing to do with it, other than the low budget they green lighted for the movie. They gave Anderson full creative freedom for the script. A script that was very good, just not elaborated enough on. The other thing that twentiuth had a say on, is the final edited slate. Anderson says he had no intention for this movie being so short or having a PG-13 rating. So this kind of says that twentiuth may have been to blame for the final product. I am happy with it. I wasnt ecpecting some innovative Raw sci-fi flick tha tno one had ever seen before. I was expecting to see the two original creatures i grew up loving back on the big screen in original fashoin with a decent story. I got this, nothing more and nothing less. So i am happy.

If the article is correct than DVD will be rated R. Which is something I'm hoping for. And from what I been reading elswhere The UK will have the rated R version in theathers. Which is another reason the PG13 is utterly garbage in the USA.

Think of the masks as clothing lines. Some people where preppy stuff, some where goth, some where punk, etc etc. Some preds just like different looks.... kinda like how the first one to kick the bucket had his skulls mounted from his back. Just different fashion statements. 💃

That's all well and good, but it's completely beside the point, but the point is the mask in the original predator looked alot better - More menacing, more dangerous and a bit more rugged. These ones just didn't look right.

The movie was fine. It was a short film to kinda revive the series and give people some fresh action since the last movie of these franchises was like, Predator 2 in like... 80's... was it 90's? And aliens 4... which did hardly better than AVP in like 1995. So its been awhile and im pretty sure they made this just to tell people the stories of the Predator and alien were still alive, and not forgotten forever.
There thinking about an Alien 5 now after making this movie, And a Predator 3 may be at hand after all the nudity and dead air shit in the second predator for the first half hour, and ridiculos amount of using the F word.

They basically just told people in this movie "Hey... It isnt over. These movies are still in our minds... Both of them" And they did that by basically giving a taste back to the series, making people more curios, and more into the Series. Hell, I know in more than 3 states every blockbuster has put both Predator movies, and all 4 Alien movies on the Hot spot, because ive checked almost 8 locations, and there all rented out, Every one of there copies of all 6 movies, and ive talked to my Brother who lives in Illinois, he cant get copies either from his local Blockbuster, or Hollywood videos.

so you know this AVP has gotten a little jumpstart back in the series, because people are either renting and buying all the old ones and getting ready to see AVP with the old series knowledge on there minds, OR there either renting and buying the old ones because AVP brought up old memories and series love they wanted to relive.

So its ovbious this movie has done what they wanted. and that is to give the message, "Aliens, And Predators... Are still Alive and kicking..."

Its Accomplished its goal. It hasnt ruined anything, its done eveyrthing but that. Given juice into the old movies, Re-sparked the audiences Curiosty, And given a fresh outlook on how they can make the new Predator and Alien movies look Today.

So, It didnt suck, By all means anything BUT sucked. Not when you think about what its done for both the Franchises sakes. Not by a long shot.

Yea.. I was gonna say that too, it reminded me of Jurassic park alot with them going out and finding all the old dinosaurs in the abandoned parks, lol.
