I don't follow the arguement here, but I just spotted the last few posts...Saying Jezus didn't exist ... that's bad. He did, that much is clear. The Romans who would never write about a non-existing troublemaker reported about him (not to an extend but they gave a name and a few of the things he did), the jews (not sure if that's the way to address them) mentioned him, why mention someone who had revolutionary ideas at that time that to them could form a problem?
They both did cause he was real and not made up.
So, there was A jezus, but that does in no way mean he was the son of a godand link, if you look some stuff up, you'll find out that the church themselves have acknowledged that the count was off a few years when they were having fun counting in the dark ages

I've read revelations...religion doesn't interest me.
Actually i don't read fantasy novels either...i read computer programming books. between work, school, and my social life...i don't have more than 20 minutes in my day to read.

Wasn't trying to insult you. I try to read an hour before sleep every night.
oh i took no offense to what you said what so ever. I was raised into a family that doesn't go to church...so i followed the trend. Now i sit here and listen to the religious folks lay down the bible's rendering of exsistence and it just doesn't add up to me. Adam and Eve...sorry another fairy tale brought to you in part by your local sponsors here at "religion"
But lets change the subject back to the topic.
ummm....Evolution. So i was wondering...do you think humans slow down the evolution of other animals? lets use dogs as an example.
If man never had dogs as a pet, do you think they would be smarter from learning from other dogs? or from learning from humans? are we impeding their evolution...or maybe changing how they evolve so that they can be better companions to humans than other dogs?
kewl dog theory .... My computer is to slow / crap / retarded to read all 236 replies so i just read the last couple of posts but it has been scientifically proven that jesus exsisted and the bible got his basic life story right and i think sumone told me that they got his birth year wrong by three years, personally being a christian i dont take the bible 100% literally to do that would be stupid (in my opinion dont hurt me) its probaly a v simplified of many different historic events or sumthing buti believe almost everything bout evoloution (though i think some higher being somwhere may have had a hand in it )but i just wanted to add sometimes scientific fact has been proved wrong (as demonstreated in the episode of friends where mr heckles dies - a classic by the way).... but teaching evoloution and all creationist theories would be pretty impossible as there are like millions of different theories bout how the world began - i think we should stick with the evoloution theory and then other people can choose to believe what they want

The job of an educator is to teach their students about truths. There are some questions about the evolution of humans. It isn't right to teach evolution as fact without at least mentioning creationism. You don't have to teach evrything single theory, but it's easy to highlight each of them. You would easily believe that elephants are green if all you were ever allowed to see were green elephants.
Originally posted by LinkaliciousYes, humans do that, when they kill animals like for example from the 1820 s to the 1880s, the northern elephant seal was hunted so heavily along the coast of California that it was almost about to extinct, with perhaps only 20 individuals remaining. The population was drastically reduced as well as the genetic pool, so variation in genes is least likely to occur. All this is called Genetic drift-- the effect of population size alone on allele and genotype frequencies-- and the net effect of genetic drift on a small population's gene pool can be rapid evolution. That's all

I don't know, for some reason an entire movement of socialogical change topeled the mightiest empire on earth..... Converted one of the stanched pagan religions on earth with mere words and inspired twelve guys to convert thousands just for the heck of it... for what?... glory and horrible ends?
Roman records for starters record all of the twelve including Jesus... Jewish annuals record his existence along with the twelve...
Two responses:
1) Jesus DID exist, He was an enlightened man, and a great speaker. Probably the Best that has ever existed. But he was not divine. He was voted divine by a Council of the Cardnils and the Pope Some 100 years after his death. I am Christian, But a Christian Truth seeker, I do not mean to upset anyones beliefs but I do wish to tell the truth.
2) I do not think that if Humans didn't evolve, Dogs would be the superior species. either there would be no sentient species or some other animal that we could not predict may have evolved or still be evolving totake our place.
The One Part 2> Well, BELIEVING the man Jesus existed isn’t the same as that he actually did. As you write, the tomb of James proved to be false. So it has been with all the so-called “archaeological evidence” that the Jesus described in the Bible ever walked on Earth.
Kaleanae> Ehrm. Did you actually READ that yourself? No proof.
You’ve read most of the Bible. So is the Earth and everything 6000 years old?
MCElite> “it has been scientifically proven that jesus exsisted.” Where is the proof?
Raventheonly> Where is the proof of what you’re saying?
And a sociological movement didn’t topple the Roman Empire. Said Empire was already failing when the emperor in the 3rd century A.D. (?) decided a new religion was needed to salvage what could be. You know One God, One Empire, One Emperor sort of thing. The Jewish religion didn’t work because of the circumcision, so how about Judaism 2.0? Good idea. And there we went. Also remember that after the Roman Empire collapsed you found Christianity only in Konstantinopel for a looong time, before it slowly started spreading to the rest of Europe.
Islam was a sociological movement, too. So is Mohammed the true voice of God?
All> If the Bible is THE truth, then the Earth and the Universe is 6000 years old. Which contradicts every bit of scientific evidence. So, if the Universe is NOT 6000 years old, then the Bible is wrong on its counting. Then it can ALSO be wrong on other accounts.
Islam is basically based on Christianity, mohamids accounts are supposed to be an addition. Even the Muslims recognize that Jesus existed, not necessarily ever aspect obviously because thats Mohammad the prophets role.
The ideals of Christianity weakened the empires aggressive drive eventually leading to its downfall, in part to the abandontment of massive slave reserves that the empire relied on.

You said weeks ago you could do it in NO time – yet days and days and days have passed, and you’re yet to fulfil your promise.
Don’t be paranoid. It’s not about who is on whose side. It’s about offering proof for a stand-point.Silver_Tears/Yerssot> Archaeological evidence or written evidence of what? Jesus? Where? Who? What?
Finti> Pure gold 😄
Raventheonly> Then tell me what evidence there is – while you’re laughing. Obviously it’s such an established fact you can dish out some proof Jesus existed – no problem. I’m waiting 😉
And proof is proof. No masters degree can change that.
well i was only asking, because without establishing the fact that God exists, believe it or not, then there will be endless arguments.
also with the age thing try finding a different way to tell the age of the earth, cuz the way your doing it now doesn't make much sense, if you really think about it, i.e. Big Bang.
they reckon the age of earth to be 4.55 billion years(plus or minus 1%) They use radiometric dating methods to measure the age of rocks and the minerals within.
As I wrote earlier on one has to think about how the bible so elegantly misses out the prehistoric animals that once lived on this earth.
The one who started on writing the bible was unaware of the fact that there once was dinosaurs and such inhabiting this planet, and missing that fact is one of the reason to look upon the bible as book of flawed writings.

wrong, the bible does talk about dinosaurs, in the book of Job. it talks about a saurapod, or behemoth and a Leviathin or a plesiosaur. it's all mention in Job and genesis, i.e. beasts of the field, "birds" or the air, "fish" of the sea.
i'm tired, goodnight
hey you guys gotta check out my forum because i don't even find books on the stuff i'm asking about... science of mind is the closest one ive seen to even dealing with the subject
In response to the church and state thing, i believe too many people have died for believing something they were told was right from birth. Whether they died in concentration camps or on the other end, fighting, killing, and dying by the gun, sword or (enter medieval weapon name here), it was all unnecessary. Theories have been warped into beliefs, shaped by political clashing, greed, and censorship(example: king james bible, the version we still use today) and nobody will actually try to find a truth to the matter. Why?
-We are all afraid of the answer.

I've had enough of the world
And it's people's mindless games
So pardon me while I burn
And rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me
I'll never be the same"
