That's cool 🙂 - yep it was but I remember someone in one the books saying somewhere (I think it was Lupin) that you didn't need walls and water to keep the prisoners in because they were so lost in their own personal hell/torment. That would mean that even though there were many dementors there, they still wouldn't need to be so strict about guarding each and every prisoner - hence the security wasn't that tight so to speak. They probably came and went checking on prisoners according to a timetable rather then watching over them constantly.

Plus, once Sirius was in his animal form and passed the first dementor as long as he was extremely careful and focused on not thinking lol (like a human that is) he could make it out because they have a harder time sensing a dog.... and, if he was only passing sinlge, pairs or small groups of dementors he'd still have a better chance then when he was caught in the first place by loads of them. Also, he'd been in there for 12 years, in order to stop going mad he must have learned to suppress his emotions.

lol. I was thinking of this question and all I can think of is that when the Demontors caught Sirus, they weakened him and he was no longer able to stay transformed. So he was forced to change back

i agree, mayb that's y. because if he has been in azkaban 4 12 years, he had most likely seen that many dementors but not all at once. so they overwhelmed him and weakened him as well.

I mean i doubt the Dementors have an actual power to transform animagus back into humans, if you know what i mean 😉

But as to what they were doing there, Snape was the only other one who knew Sirius was there and who would tip off the Dementors but he was unconscious at the time, wasnt he? So i doubt the Dementors had been tipped off about Sirius

But we don't know when he ever woke up, the next time we saw him, he was already awake so it really depends on when he woke up.

And another thing is that....when Sirius was still in Azkaban it said that he would always turn into his dog form...😕

Ok, you've kinda lost me now Kit, what are you trying to ask?
When Sirius was in Azkaban he could still transform into a dog, but he didn't have the incentive to escape, because he knew unless he had some proof that Wormtail was still alive, and therefore he was innocent, then he would just be caught and thrown back into Azkaban. When the picture with Scabbers came out, then he used his animagus side to escape, as RPhoe said.

they should clear sirius name he died and he never got a chance to be free...proving that he was innocent all the time is the least that they could do!

It's definitely more aggravating that a character we loved who suffered immensly died without a chance but if he ever comes back they should definitely clear his name 🙂
