From what I've seen in Action Comics #826, it does. Eclipso is in a robotic suit that fires Red Solar Blasts. When she hits Superman with one blast from the suit, it puts Superman down for some time.
That makes no sense. Its totally inconsistent.

In Superman #181, Superman and Bizarro (his magically-created, brain damaged, "imperfect" duplicate) switched bodies. Superman (in Bizarro's body) punched Bizarro (in Superman's body) completely through the Earth and out the other end. Bizarro (in Superman's body) was salmmed in the through the ground in Metropolis and came out two panels later in China. He was shown ripping straight through the Earth's crust, mantle, and core, coming out on the other side of the planet. Superman's body was fully conscious and completely unharmed by the blow (Bizarro was smiling as usual).
At times, Superman has faced impossibly powerful foes with strength even greater than his own. Though outmatched in strength, he still endured these beatings impressively. In Superman #22, he withstood several blows from Quex-El, a pocketverse Kryptonian whose strength seemed comparable to Pre-Crisis levels. In Action comics #591, he withstood blows from the Pre-Crisis Superboy (a being who could juggle planets and tow a solar system) without visible injury, but this may have been artistic license.

wow, dvamp! impressive research!! i've said it before - if ss can't pull the energy from him, or block his absorbtion of said energy (i think he could do the latter, not the former, then he just has to stay away from supes long enough for him to weaken - not sure how long that would take or if supes could reach him before he was too weak though) than supes wins this fights. 'cosmic' bolts, powerful as ss's are, will not get it done (as dvamp, i think, clearly showed with his examples) ss could win, but it would NOT be easy, and he'd have to win by being smarter. if it came down to mano-e-mano, supes takes it.

I am aware of what Superman is capable of. I've heard of all of these feats.

Superman is extremely powerful; to that I will attest. However, he does not possess more raw power than the Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer is capable of performing any of these feats, and much more.

Regular cosmic blasts won't put him down, but they would certainly wear on him. Surfer can attune the blast's frequency to that of red sunlight, and greatly increase their effectiveness. Imagine a red sunlight blast capable of destroying a planet. Superman would be out of the fight, no doubt, and it is more likely that he would be killed. But, Surfer wouldn't try to kill him.

People fail to understand that there are a great many ways for Surfer to win this fight. In this fight, Superman is limited to punches, and possesses inferior speed. If Surfer wanted to, he could phase through Superman's punches, taking away any chance of victory.

He never biltz anybody. In that case he should be able to biltz Thanos with no problem. I've seen Superman biltz people but not surfer. Give me an issue number or show me a scan. 🙂

Where did I say Surfer would speedblitz Superman? Surfer doesn't physically attack people.
Thanos is out of Silver Surfer's league. He can move, thing and react just as fast as Surfer does. Instead of flying, he can instantaneously teleport billions of lightyears with a mere thought. He would own Superman.

I don't think the regular blasts would be enough either, due to Superman's insane resiliance. However, Surfer can scan Superman in a fraction of a nanosecond and completely understand his physiology. He would know that Sunlight empowers him, and that red sunlight and kryptonite take away Superman's abilities.
