Well, I saw it this morning and I wasn't impressed, I wasn't expecting much anyway. Just an emotional Garner weaving in and out of self pity, dealing with some personal conflict, and throwing some sai around.
The secondary characters were all pretty shallow, and their delivery was horrid, except for Abby, which reminded me too much of "The Next Karate Kid". Biggest flaw of the movie was the storytelling, as that's all it really was. Elektra really had no gimmick, just a hired assassin, and we got some obligatory slo-mo, bullet time shots and some cinematography lifted right out of "Hero".
Comic fans may appreciate this, and it's still better than "The Punisher", IMO, but that's still not saying much.
Elektra
I have just gotten back from Elektra and all I have to say is wow. I think this movie was very well done. Some might argue that it lacked a plot, but it didn't. It told the story of an assissin named...Elektra. She is sent to kill Abby and Mark Miller, but can't. The Hand is after Abby, for she is the 'Tresure'. Elektra decided to protect them and fight the hand. I think that Jennifer Garner's acting was amazing in this movie. As was everyones.
I'd give it 4/5 stars because it was alittle short.
Marvel movies, in my opinion, have been getting more pathetic with each rendition served to the public. Elektra was no exception. While it did do WAY better than Daredevil, it still sucked. Jennifer Garner just doesn't fit the vision I've had of Elektra. She's not dark nor is she intimidating. If anything she's " cute " when trying to pull off the role. Marvel needs to stop making movies and focus on comics. I'm tired of them pumping out bullsh*t.

I agree about Thyphoid Mary! That was really cool! As for Malthe being Elektra, I don't know. I don't think we saw enough of her to warrant the "probably a better actress" bit even if she does resemble Elektra more than Garner does. BTW, I also liked Tattoo!
I liked the movie. Granted it doesn't take much to impress me (I am after all a fan of the SW prequels 😛 ) but I thought it was good. Garner played the Heroine really well (or was it the Sai that impressed me more?) 😄 and was able to appreciate her journey/test, overcoming her demons and becoming who her grandmaster knew she can be.
I'll definitely watch the second (if one follows). We've now been introduced to Elektra's world and I can't wait what else they can come up with 😄
BTW, what is it about being "treasure" or whatever Abby was that made the Hand want her so badly?

i think the first fight scene in daredevil was better than all of elektra, and i didnt think punisher was too good....but i just cant stand the "she's an assassin, she could teleport through places!" thing, so i have to say punisher beat the crap out of this movie imo......i would've been happy just leaving after the fantastic four preview lol, that made my day

elektra got hit a total of 3 times (by enemies) and every time it almost killed her....whats so special about her that she could survive typhoid mary's kiss without dying? tattoo died in probably the stupid way possible, kirigi died extremely stupid too, this whole "fast paced" (it was just cut up and a shaky zoomed-in camera) fight happened, he talked some bullsh*t and died so retarded, then i guess the impenetrable black dudes only weakness are huge trees falling on top of him, typhoid mary was just a quick tool used to get the plot going......AND STICK'S NINJAS USED CHORDS TO PROPEL FROM THE TREES!?!?!? what the hell kind of ninja is that
other than that they put more fiction into the characters than the comics did, with her basically teleporting behind people because she's an assassin, abby did her fight scenes much better than elektra, they really should've gotten real masters to train them in sai's, every scene was either her reversing them, or flipping them in the same motions for a few seconds
MAYBE one day frank miller will take up the elektra mantle, i could only hope, maybe seek a really unkown actress with proficient martial arts skill and give his character what she deserves
This movie is yet another lame American comic movie. What is it with Marvel films and attempts at character? First of all, they give us crap reimaginings of the characters, then try to make it all worthwhile by explorring such crap characters. You can't polish a turd, give it up. Only Sam Raimi's Spider-Man has managed to realise the essence of the characters on film, and provide the visual greatness required for a successful comic adaptation. Everyone else has tried to match Raimi's Spider-Man, only to fall flat on their face. This movie is no exception.
I'm so sick of this rubbish.
Next up - The Fantastic Four. Man, that looks even worse (Shit-rock soundtrack, Johnny Blaze is an annoying prick who looks NOTHING like him, Doc Doom is a dude IN A SUIT!).
Iron Man will probably be just as crap.
Keep'em coming Marvel, you losers. I'll be over there watching Batman Begins so if y'all manage to somehow make a movie THAT DOESN'T SUCK give me a shout.

In the trailer i saw explosions, half animal ninjas, and other things that make it looking like Dragon Ball in the 2nd Tenkaichi Tourneament than a marvel comic book movie.She's too much overpowered in the movie, and the plot isn't something that fit with the character of Elektra we all like.It just a forced spin-off from DareDevil another crap movie.The only good things in DD were Kingpin, yes black, but he Duncan fits the role perfectly, and Bullseye, that with a spandex costume would be better.
