Um...Just because a lot of people LIKE the show doesn't make it necessarily good. I agree with you that it's FAR better than TT, but it doesn't come CLOSE to Cowboy Bebop. The music, the animation, the fact that the American dub of it does NOT suck, the diverse characters, ED, etc...
Anyway, the reason DBZ got really popular is because a bunch of little kids watch it, at least in America. This spawned the CRAPPY toys...it spawned the CRAPPY games, such as Taiketsu...It gave us DB, which was good, but then GT just HAD to come after...And GT, well, that's simply horrible, no praise can honestly given to it.

Ummmm, how can you say that DBZ is better than Cowboy Bebop? Bebop is widely known as one of the best anime ever done, story-wise, character-design, music, etc. DBZ doesn't excel in any of these categories. DBZ is only as popular as it is because it's marketed so much. It's such a repetitive anime; every 'saga' as they call it can be boiled down to the exact same storyline, just with a different villian. It's really not that great an anime. I used to like it, but then I was introduced to MUCH better series like Bebop, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, .hack, etc. And for you info, Bebop DOES have a movie, which is excellent, and there's a Bebop game coming out, since you seem to think that an anime's excellence is judged by how much they sell out.
And what's the problem with watching anime that's not been dubbed? I know many an anime fan who WON'T watched dubbed anime, I myself being one of them. I'd rather watch it pure, in Japanese with English subtitles (or even with no subtitles), than the mangled English dubbed version of so many anime...and just because you don't know anyone who watches anime that hasn't been dubbed, doesn't mean that no one watches it.
It's people with opinions and attitudes like yours that make me wish that anime never became mainstream.

Denki,look at stuff like Full Metal Alcamist,Detective Conan,or Evangelion.In Japan,they kick DBZ's ass like no1s buiseness.YOU need to get out more and take a look around because these days,EVERYTHING in Japan has got DBZ beat.The only reason its so popular here is cause its aired all the time on cartoon netwok.If it wasn't nobody would know what the hell it even is.Now Alcamist *isn't*aird on Tv^YET^ and its 1000X more popular(In Japan)

Popular =/= Good. DBZ appeals to kids, because it has fireballs and big explosions. Kids, by the numbers, like video games, and like toys. Therefore, crappy toys will be made, as they have been, and crappy games will be made as well. DBZ IS good, sure. But it's not nearly as good as for example, Akira, or Naruto, or Cowboy Bebop, or Gungrave, or Full Metal Alchemist, etc...There are MANY animes that are better than DBZ.
i think that dbz and pokemon are overrated by far. 1st with dbz they have gone way to far with it. i loved this anime when it first came out b/c it was the 1st anime i had ever seen in my entire life! it was amazing at how these people were flying and shooting these powerballs out of their hands. i dont mean to put this anime down b/c it showed me anime (cb taught me what anime was/is 🙂 ). but this anime has gone on for too long i myself dont really like it when anime is short (like most of my favorites are only 26 eps. long), but they are like that for a reason. if an anime goes on for to long, u end up repeating the same thing and destroying a good anime, just like pokemon! i didnt really watch the show that much but u hear about it everywhere and see it.i mean how many times do u have to see team rocket get busted and flown across the sky, or new and improve pokemon? im sorry if i have upsetted some people, but this is my views on these 2 animes.1st anime
