Overrated anime

Most overrated animes at this moment:

1. InuYasha
The anime started off fairly promising in the beginning, but now it has just gotten repetitive, predictable, and almost stale. Don't get me wrong, I do like this series, but I don't think it's one of the best by any means. Compared to many other anime titles out there, InuYasha is average at best. Despite many of the japanese references, the plot is essentially the same: We have a new arc with a villian to worry about. The other group members (Miroku, Sango, Kagome, etc) try to do some damage, but it is not enough. InuYasha fights and finds some way to defeat the enemy. The enemy is defeated. InuYasha and the others continue along their quest and the battle and enemy are soon forgotten. Plus, many of the characters are really lacking development. Not to mention the love triangles (Inu-Kag and Mir-San) InuYasha and Kagome's romance have developed slightly and will most likely confess their love for each other towards the end of the series, but I feel Miroku and Sango have barely gotten anywhere in theirs. When it boils down to it, their relationship consists of gropings and jealousy. Not much else. Most of the people who say that this is a great series, have yet to see any other anime outside of CN.

2. The DragonBall/Z/GT series
The series started off fair in the beginning, but over the course has just gotten worse and worse. Not to mention repetitive. They pay way too much attention to the fights. The villians are generally one-dimensional and the same goes for many of the characters. I used to like the DBZ series, but now I've grown away from that and gotten into more better animes. The plot generally drags for about 30-50 episodes. 'A new enemy arrives, Goku and the others train to prepare for the fight, During the fight someone usually dies, Goku discovers a new saiyan level, Goku almost loses, Goku comes up with some trick outta his ass, Goku saves the day once again and all is well'. As the series carry on the characters grow stale. DBGT is just godawful.

3. Yu-Gi-Oh
I'll never understand the whole fascination with this series. All of the characters are cardboard cut-out stereotypes and the plot is very much predicatable. It's like Pokemon, except that they use cards this time.

4. Detective Conan/Case Closed
I'm usually not much of a fan of mystery type series, which probably could explain why I don't care a great deal for this anime. When it aired on Adult swim, I liked it for about 2 weeks and lost interest. I could tell where this series is going. "Conan will continue to pose as a child while solving mystery after mystery and Rachel's dad was going to continue taking all the credit. Not to mention the fact that Rachel will forever be left in the dark about what really happened to Jimmy/Conan. Also, the episodic plots and the simple "villian of the day" episodes that made this series grow stale quick. I still watch it when I'm bored or have nothing else to watch, however.

InuYasha just sucks. When I was in Japan, my host sister would watch it in the living room and I would occasionally watch a bit of it. About two years before that, I saw the first episode of InuYasha and it looked very promising. But I was wrong. I can tune into whatever episode and understand the whole episode and the storyline. It’s horribly repetitive and its still not finished. The characters are static and way too simple. Kagome is the same in the second episode as she is in the 100th one. The same with InuYasha, Kikyou and so on. Kagome also wears her uniform often (by choice), even though unforms are expensive and they don’t have dryers in Japanese houses, but most uniforms are dry clean only anyways. A girl only owns two sets, so that just adds to the corny storyline. At least Miaka brought back different clothes to wear in Fushigi Yuugi. InuYasha is a cliche and redundant anime only because it’s a kid show. It’s easy to follow for children and that how they can keep producing so many episodes. It’s just like Doraemon or Detective Conan.

Detective Conan isn’t a big favorite by many Japanese past the age of 12 or 13. It reminds me too much of Murder She Wrote, because wherever ever Conan goes, someone dies. The series is painfully long. It’s still running in Japan, even though there have been at least 12 seasons of it.

Dragon Ball is bad. The creator of the manga intended the story to end after Cell, but he was forced to produce more of it. The characters are ridiculously powerful and episodes are almost like recycled clips from earlier episodes (much like InuYasha). But, it’s a kid show. My friend explained it to me when I was little as “Sailor Moon for boys.”

Pokemon was only popular because at the time it started coming to the united states, there wasn’t much anime on tv.

Fushigi Yuugi is overrated. There are plenty of anime stories about people getting spirited away to magical worlds, and this show is one of them. Miaka’s character doesn’t change all too much throughout the anime. There is too much unnecessary angst, but it’s better than InuYasha. It’s drawn better. The coloring is better and the storyline flows much better than InuYasha, but the series was too long. Miaka cried more often then she should have.

Rurouni Kenshin is overrated. I like the first Rurouni Kenshin movie, but the anime series is annoying. The manga is alright, but the anime is weird. The first opening theme song is painful to listen to as well. It’s a bit too bright for a samurai related anime series. People only like it because it’s a samurai show as well.

Naruto is overrated. People like it because it’s new to them, but the animation is poor looking and there is too much drama in it, and the storyline is not anything impressive.

But anything that appears on American cable that’s anime will be overrated. That’s just how it is. I mean Wolf’s Rain, BeyBlade, Yugioh, and other series aren’t that great, but people eat it up.

Dragonball Z. I used to like it, but I soon got tired of these fight scenes having 10 minutes of HAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! while they powered up, or shot energy balls and yet despit this, it's the anime that gets all the attention.

how can you think Rurouni kenshin is overated that show is exactly what it is cracked up to be it is the perfect anime...the whole story plot is understandable unlike most...the fact that good guys dont always win is remarkable so i dont see how it is overated...on the other hand pokemon is way overated

POkemon and Yugioh are underated.. seems like any stupid teenager that has an IQ under 100 seems to talk bad about those two shows. They are for kids.. get that through your tiny head XD

I agree with BlackhatDefect on that one. Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! are targeted to a younger audience and collectors. And in some way so does DBZ except that is being picking up an older audience since the late 90s. Why? I dunno, but is happening. I don't follow InuYasha or Detective Conan, but they obviously have a large fanbase. Except here with Detective Conan......not many post in the thread....😕....go figured.

You have brought up an interesting point, that over rated fanfictions become annoying after everyone likes them, or hates them. It is over rated because people make it that way, it has nothing to do with the content most of the time, you just get sick of it, or don't understand it... or you hated it already and now its all around you. I personally LOVE inuyasha, I do not like Ghost in the Shell. But InuYasha is over rated too much, it sometimes annoys me. I do not see how InuYasha is like Fushugi Yugi, except in the romance department, Kagome is too annoying to be Miaka👆... she just is annoying. the only characters i like are Kikyou, Kiade, Rin🐰, Sesshoumaru and the amoris monk MIROKU👿 Other than that the rest you listed are rather annoying.

Girl falls into an old version of an asian land~she meets an arrogant bastard that becomes her love interest~someone jealous tries to take him away~they both must "gather" something~they are both the same age~The boy was made fun of as a child~The boyhasd something to do with a Demon~There is an evil villian that sits on his arse and waits for his minions to kill the party~Thiss villian was tragic and had relations with the jealous girl that wants to steal the boy away~If the girl fails something bad will happen to her world~Do you really want any more ways Inuyasha copied Fushigi Yuugi?

Fushigi Yuugi wasn't the first manga like that though...

Actually InuYasha is less like Fushigi Yuugi than Fushigi Yuugi is like Kanata Kara, Juuni Kokki or Escaflowne. And Escaflowne and Juuni Kokki have better plots, characters, and music as well.

I think right now the most overrated ones out right now would be Naruto & Inuyasha, okay series, but its not THAT great as most ppl make it out 2 be

I disagree with Bleach being Overrated. As well as Naruto.

Both shows are great and emotional, plus full of character development and action. Fillers aside - 2 of the better anime out there right now.

Inuyasha is overrated.

I like Bleach (obviously lol), but it is overrated, and yes Naruto is overrated, very overrated
