Fate

Chance is controlled by more than just people. Nature also has an effect on chance (the wind blows and knocks a tree over into a house). Some people believe that all acts of nature are the will of the "higher power". I'm not sure if fate is controlled by the "higher power", i'm pretty sure most people just believe that their life is already laid out for them, most don't care who or why they just accept it.

it's a contradiction what you said though... fate is uncontrollable by yourself... but then I suppose it's supposed to be ironic... 🙂

Then lets not use the term fate.

Event/Effect/Consequence.

Something happens, it has an effect, there's a consequence. Nothing more.

It's kinda both.
You can control your fate to some extent with the choices you make, but only to some extent.
The rest is up to your destiny and it's beyond your control.

I was discussing this thing with a friend some time ago. And what he told me is that even though we think we make our own choices, they are conditioned by outside factors, so there's only one way that we would choose at the end. So, we don't really have a choice even though we think we do. Because every choice we make is a result of a series of factors...and there is only one way we can choose.

I don't really like this kind of reasoning, but It kinda makes sense. Anyway, I still like to think that we can make our own choices and that we make our future.

I think some people choose to let fate guide their lives, but some are powerful enough to change it.

There is no fate or chance, only Karma (cause and effect). Fate and chance are terms that show we don't understand what is behind an outcome.

I belive there is fate and we can't change it.
I just go with the flow, go where life takes me.

the uncontrollable is destiny

Fate is just an excuse for lazy people.

The only destiny you have is the one you make.

There are always "forks" in the roads. I always chose which one I'll take then I set it on cruise....

fate is destined, chance is not fate but becomes fate once that person chooses to.

If fate is fate only when you choose it, then destiny depends on our choices, and there will be no thing like predetermination. It will depend on our free will.

But isn't our free wil conditioned by previous actions, by the way we have been brought up, by the circumstances of the moment we take the decision? Isn't it just like a big equation that has just one final solution...because after all you take only one decision...you act in one way at a time....
