should women be aloud to fight on ..........

I was thinking more like in the Greek term for Amazonians. I'm not denying the existence of female warriors in war. Nowadays the Amazonian can be interprit as women that are strong with masculine features (No, I'm not talking about lesbians) and Physically strong. From what I understand the Amazonian came from Scythia and they fought in many wars. I'm pretty sure they had males fighting along with them in war.

I see WD and I are on the same wavelength.

If history shows us anything, women will b!tch, moan, and unite for their cause until they get their way.

If they want to fight on the front lines then so be it...

They live by our side, they can die by our side....

They are about as certain as most things (in lets say Troyan war) i think they found some evidence....but unsure.

Greek amazons were probably based on real characters....unsure how much like the real thing the myths are.

You put it better Ush. I think Sappho is the poet who inspired the idea of the Amazonian character. From what I understand Plato admired her for being dominating, and fearless in her poetry. As I said before I'm not discreding female warriors, but the amazonic myth? I not too sure they existed.

female soldiers on their period would be difficult to be around.

I dunno if i could handle her "freshening up" in the same trench or tent or something with me. It's just sooooo.....*shudder*

That's a posiblity too. But is it fair to consider those female warriors Amazonians? There probably are archeological proofs of their battles. Until is found we will know.

If they are as certain as they are about the Trojan war, lil, that means they are not even vaguely certain at all... and they have more on Troy than Amazons!

There is probably historical basis in them, in that women have fought as warriors over time in anicent history, but a distinct Amazonian culuture is a myth.

But as I say, that really makes no difference to the current debate. No-one reasonable can deny that women can fight. That is not the end of the argument, though.

Basically, the argument is not "Can women serve on the front lines?", because literally the answer is yes.

The question is "Does mixing genders on the front lines work?" And a lot of people think no, and witrh good reason. And if you have to select only one gender... for the reasons of physique outlined above, you'll choose the men.

As to the question CAN it work, rather than does it work... tricky... anything is possible over time, I guess.

Are you talking about going to a war or a holiday?

And another thing, girls DONT PMS when they are on their persiod, FFS, no guys seems to know that, its either before or after...

I dont know if this has been mentioned, but in the Second World War, in Russia women fought in the frontlines. They served both as infantry and Snipers, also as pilots, mostly flying in U2 Biplanes on night missions, where they greatly affected the morale of the German soldiers (being bombed when your sleeping for example)

One Russian female fighter pilot was credited with 8 Aerial Kills against the Luftwaffe and a female sniper was if i remember correctly credited with over 200 confirmed kills.

The women units however were segregated because of obvious problems that would become apparent

Lil, don't jump the gun. He didn't mention PMS, I think he meant he couldn't stomach the biology of it.

i know they don't PMS on their period. FFS? <---no need for that. I am aware of the processes of the female menstrual cycle. I have had a girlfriend who's old enough....if you can manage to believe that.

It's one thing to handle a soldier who is bleeding to death and dying. It's a completely different thing to be around something that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die....

I think he can speak for himself 🙄

And he did, and that was indeed the point, wasn't it? Perhaps if you hadn't started to make a broad accusation against all guys, I wouldn't have felt the need to comment.

Err, Lil, that's not ridiculous- some men really hate that.

Cyclops--that's... lame... you can't let somebody join a government run organization based solely on their sex... If that had been a guy you can bet the judge would have just laughed at him. When people's lives are on the line, you can't be making exceptions like that.

I hope you are not saying that I am in the wrong because I was not and will never defend that woman. She could not meet the expectations, so she should not have passed. Plain and simple.
