Get rid of the PG13 Era. Time to upgrade to the R attitude. Besides those 13 year olds from 2003 are practically gone or grown up already.

(certainly no porn or shock sites pictures)

It would be pretty much impossible to enforce that. The 13+ rule is to comply with US laws.

Not to mention the fact that that would require banning a lot of people for suddenly being underage - just because kids that were 13 seven years ago are adults now, doesn't mean that there haven't been teenagers joining between now and then. That's just silly.

WTF do US laws have to with a forum that is global? Banning them for underage? That happens all the time mods discover someone is under the age of 13. What's new?

As of matter of fact this puts more work on you mods (since there isn't that much for you guys to do anyways) we create R forum....YOU supervise who posts...because viewing is something NO ONE can control. Is not your fault someone ventures into a discussion about sex as of matter of fact OTF is just below the GDF.

You may want to read more carefully and reply more properly before downplaying people's propositions no wonder people are walking out of this place....

...ah hell, is just suggestion....carry on...

How would that help the forum?

The forum servers are located in the US, thus we're bound by US laws. COPPA states that no personal information can be collected from a minor under the age of 13 without written parental consent, which requires a hell of a lot of paperwork. Hence KMC, like most websites, follows a policy of not allowing anyone under 13 to join.

The idea of a forum with an increased age limit has been brought up and discussed in-depth, so me saying "it's not possible" isn't just me saying so, it was the consensus reached by the mods ages ago when we exhausted that discussion. There is literally no way to enforce it. People often don't have their ages in their profiles. It's very easy for someone to go "Oh, yeah, I'm 18" when they really aren't. And then if they view something that's illegal for minors to see? It comes back on us.

Hard to read something more carefully when all your original suggestion was was just three sentences, with nothing really explained at all. You should probably watch the instantly hostile attitude, though.

If anyone really has a need to share porn and discuss/brag about sex, they can certainly find plenty of that elsewhere on the internet. It's not necessary for a movie forum, nor is it particularly tasteful, far beyond the impossibility of enforcing restrictions and the unneeded danger of us getting in trouble.

😬 It wouldn't,we would just lose even more members, which would be the members under the age bracket, not only that, how is it fair to change it and then have to ban members on here that are under 18 and have been here for 2 or 3 years. 😮‍💨 I love porn and sex and dirty talkin just as much as the next guy,but theres places all over the net to do that,I come here to read and contribute opinions on movies.Just a stupid idea too be honest

Laws about age....isnt this a privately own forum thus it can set its own rules about requirements?

In any case if we get a porn/adult section it will probably draw in more spam bots.

Even privately owned websites are still bound by the laws set in the country that their servers are in. If COPPA says we can't collect info from kids under 13, we can't. If we get a DMCA violation for someone posting copyrighted material, we must remove it immediately. And so on.

(and before someone decides to be a smartass and say "What about freedom of speech?" - that only applies to the government, not to anything privately owned.)

Don't reflect your own personal experience with KMC upon its entirety and then blame the moderators for it, especially since you WERE one.

I'm going to be the strict one here- any anti-mod sentiments in this thread will get hit with a warning (or ban, as appropriate). I come in here to see what people are thinking would be good for the board, not who thinks that we as a team suck balls at moderating.

Additionally, Heroes should be merged with the TV forum. It never needed its own section.

Agreed.

Have the Hobbies Discussion forum that covers all hobbies things related and move that dead Book Discussion Forum into a sub forum under that.

Well, others dont have a spot to report the mods to since Raz is never around.

Just saying.

Don't bother saying anything....it's like playing Rorschach vs Doctor Manhattan. I'm not going to sink to their level.

Disregard any previous suggestions by me. Thank you.

That's really immature, man. What did we ever do to you?

Nuul, the report button works just fine if you think a moderator is doing something report worthy.

That was out of line i mean i don't always agree with things how the mods handle things sometimes, But they work their ass off to keep thisforum clean and running accordingly which aint a easy task to with a huge forum that kmc is.

You suggest an R rated board, then get mad when it is shot down? Wow.

You know, WD, your attitude as of recent has been very sour and condescending. It's really making you look bad. But......if you want to keep showing your ass to everyone on the board then I won't say anything. Just don't get mad when a Global takes action.

Well, that actually applies to the government mandating it to people, including businesses. However I do see your point that it is oftentimes misused. Though in this case it is actually a limitation of absolute freedom of speech, but no one ever claimed that to exist anyways.

I just read the thread title, it says "The Suggestion Thread". Don't know when or how it became a Complaint Thread. When several mods explain or shoot down a proposed suggestion, the convo should end there. Not be carried on and complained about for several posts/pages. Any further discussion can be made by PMs.

PG-13 versus R. What does "R" represent? Full frontal, F bombs, more explicit pics/vids? I think the rating is fine as is. A few curse words get blocked and we edit posts/links every now and then but PG-13 is an easier rating to follow, imo. As posted earlier, there are other places for more "adult" oriented material.

Reporting mods to Raz. I haven't seen many complaints about mods aside from those posters who continually break rules. I know that any abuse of mod powers is dealt with by the other mods and Raz if necessary. Seems more of an issue of bruised ego/hurt feelings than any abuses of mod powers.

The forum is privately owned, so rules can be made and enforced accordingly. You can make rules for your own home regarding what's said, watched on TV, viewed on the internet, etc. The same applies here.

So how about we have a Complaints Thread then? Let people vent their frustration with the site and staff in a seperate area without them being punished for not liking the way things are.
