In mocking yerssot you hit on a relevant topic.

In ancient greece science and philosophy were interrelated: in places interdependent. Even when they were separate - philosophies methods defined they way the Grecians viewed science and the scientific techniques they used were often based on philosophical methodology.

It's something we in the west lost touch with - till recently we began to rediscover the idea of a scientific "fact" having a philosophical leaning. (via quantum physics.)

We make way too much of a distinction between science being based on fact and philosophy being the province of the mind. IMO: One of the reasons why the west is becoming less spiritual.

^ Thanks to Philosophy the scientific thinking sprouted in the ancient world. Well, actually both Religion and Science owes a lot to Philosophy. So is kinda like two children fighting all the time.....then comes the adult (Philosophy) and separates them. 😉

science and philosophy pretty much got seperated or at least thought about differently with the nominalism of Ockham, that's why

Very nice touch to the thread.thumbup1

Don't Listen to them Omega! Think of the Reindeers for God's sake! The Reindeers!!!

I personally believe that all of it is not meant to be taken literally. It is the Word of God, but interpreted by human people. Many people fail to realize that it isn't in fact the true Word of God, rather interpreted by mere humans. It says in the Bible that the world was created in seven days, but how do we humans know what God actually meant? Maybe to God, seven days is 15 billion years; who are we to know the true answer? that is also another part of TRUE FAITH. you just have to bel;ieve, and unfortunately not many people can these days...

and that's why Tinker Bell died! cry

So by that logic, you can't disprove the existance of a childs imaginary friend. But I guess that goes hand in hand with religion because that's all God is, a hugely popular and widly accepted imaginary friend.
I find it ironic that people get thrown in a loony bin for talking to imaginary friends. But by talking to the popular and accepted imaginary friend you can become a priest and work in a chuch for some good money. Hmmm...but now that I think about it, a church doesn't seem to be much different from a nut house. Both have a bunch of people talking to invisible people, both have people afraid of something that probably doesn't even exist. And, most of all, both are filled with people who are judging everyone who is different from them.

😠 A church is very different to a nut house (not that i really know, considering ive never been admitted to a nut house) because ppl in church do NOT talk to someone imaginary. There is a reason ppl go to church in case you hadnt notice. And that is because they believe in something and someone. They go there to talk to God, to pray to him. Talking to an imaginary person and praying to God is an entirely different thing! 😠 And God does exist and the proof is everywhere. Just look around you. You cannot group people into 'filled with ppl who are judging every1 who is different from them.' I am Christian and i dont judge ppl who are different to me 😮 at least i try not to. 🙂 No one is perfect and it is most likely that u judge ppl too. I dont see Christians judging ppl, in fact, many Christians pray for those different to them.
Last but not least, i think you'll find a lot of ppl believe in that 'hugely popular, wildly accepted imaginary friend.' Why do you think he's so hugely popular?!
😛 So there. 😄

A church is very different to a nut house (not that i really know, considering ive never been admitted to a nut house) because ppl in church do NOT talk to someone imaginary. There is a reason ppl go to church in case you hadnt notice. And that is because they believe in something and someone.

The nut job also believes that the imaginary/invisible person he's talking to is real as well, does that make it so? As far as I'm concerned, God is an imaginary creation, and untill he comes down and tells me "Hey, stop being a dick to people who believe in me" I will continue to think this way.

Talking to an imaginary person and praying to God is an entirely different thing! And God does exist and the proof is everywhere.

I'm looking, I see rape, death, pain, and horror all over the world, are these the new age attributes of "Proof of God"?

The fact that you are praying for these people who are different from you prooves you ARE judging them. You think these people want your prayers just because they're different? I know I don't.

Last but not least, i think you'll find a lot of ppl believe in that 'hugely popular, wildly accepted imaginary friend.' Why do you think he's so hugely popular?!

The same reason "Friends" and Reality TV are popular, because people are sheep.

You got something there...is call faith in humanity. What we need is to believe that we can do something for ourselves. Take a look around us...what do we do about the world we live in? Nothing! We just blame someone else for the problems. Instead of being together and helping each other...what do we do? We just blame someone else.

We only hear things like: "Oh the Christians and any other religious person are blind!", "The Atheists are a bunch of folks that lost their faith some point in their lives, and now they blame God!". Blah, blah, blah, blah! That's all you hear! We don't hear something like "humans should work together for a better tomorrow" or "let's come together as one and create a better world." NAH!!! you won't hear that! All your hear is complains and complains about everything! I blame God for the Holocaust, I blame God for famine, I blame God for rape, for murder, for war, etc.....guess what? HUMANS make those things happen! Humans with their FREE WILL go out there and do the most atrocious things to each other! But NOOOO blame God for that! Blame it on the deity that some humans either believe in or NOT!

I wonder when will humanity will stop blaming each other for the messed we made on this planet so far? ! And start accepting RESPONSIBILITY for our OWN actions! Of course, I now sound like I'm blaming humanity for not taking resposibility, but is okay. I don't mind assuming responsibility......after all I also share this world with the rest of all you!

Many times I have said we should question everything (That's a Philosophers objective)! Including Holy books, but when it comes down to finger pointing and blaming others for our shameful history (Our human history).....UH-uh! No Way! I don't accept that! We need to accept responsibity for our actions. Not blame everything on someone else! Is hypocracy and is plain lazyness to blame our problems on something like deities! We are resposible and we should do something about.... I'm sure God won't mind us trying to better ourselves!

😂 I have so many proofs... But what's the use of telling you, link, when you don't even believe in the Bible.

Well, the earth was round... thousands of years before somebody explored the world and declared that the earth is round ... the Bible has already described the earth as round. 🙄 ... they just can't see the TRUTH during those times. Poor explorers.

Isn't it interesting that if there are bad things going on in the world God's to blame. And when good things happen, man takes credit for it.

If you mention rape, death, pain and horror, I wouldn't call them attributes of "Proof of God", more attributes of "man". No wonder peopl start believing in God, Man's got very little worth believing in. Heck you might as well start talking to someone imaginary, at least that person wouldn't be so brutal, vile and destructive as human beings.

I never said "God is to blame" for these things. He said proof is all around us, and I simply stated those as examples of how twisted this world is. And to point out that there is indeed, no proof of God.

Also, you never know about some imaginary friends, some of them tell folks to do bad things.

Depends on what you want to see. Obviously you're inclined to only have eye for the negative things around. If you really want to try it, open your mind, broaden your view, be critical (always!) and then perhaps... who knows.
But we all know you're not the least bit interested so it's a fairly useless debate.
