NO, my opinion comes from the FACT that the events written about in the bible are physically impossible and have NEVER been repeated in all the time since it was originally written.
You openly believe things just because they are written in a book, yet you don't question them. You can't PROVE the exsistence of a heaven or hell....yet you believe in it.
Historicity? Is that even a word?
Where do you get your opinions and beliefs from? a book....not even your own brain.

All I've ever stated was my own opinion. And my opinion is based on the lack of facts provided by all the bible lovers. If you can prove to me that there is a God. Then I'll disprove that.
I can't disprove something that someone can't prove in the first place....
So now you're saying that if someone can prove that there is a God, you'll disprove it? Sounds more like an agenda rather than a search for the truth.
What's with calling believers sheep? Don't you consider is a supremacy behavior to call others with different views sheep? I don't see ppl calling some else an Infidel. So why resort to call the faithful sheep?
Yes, i have an evil agenda to disprove all that you can prove.....or something sinister sounding. 🙄
You've finally done it you two...you've won. You've managed to keep beating around the bush to the point I can't take any more of your dribble.
Keep defending the "word of God" all you want...that's your belief. I'll keep believing that your "word of God" is nothing more than some righteous ideas thought up by HUMAN BEINGS.....NOT GOD.

Whoah! Link, I'm not trying to make or say that you have an evil agenda. Besides it kinda does sound like you did wanted to prove God doesn't exist regardless of proof or not.
Try to read MY ealier posts. I always keep saying WE should question everything. Including the bible, but never make conclusions outta some else's opinions! Get your conclusions outta experts, scholars, intellectuals, scientists, religious, and Philosophers. Not from some guy or gal on the internet. Don't settle for some else opinion's ask the experts!
i don't like people thinking for me...i like thinking for myself.
my opinions and beliefs come from my life time experience of dealing with religion. You know...religion, the single greatest killer EVER! Which is also so highly coveted by so many people.
i don't need an expert to tell me what I believe...only people who believe in religion need that.
WindDancer> There is no need to go philosophical – yet. You somehow have to bring me onto your foundation of premises – namely that God even exists. Before that, we’re not discussing things from the same standpoint and will go around in circles.
“Yeah, God does have the power to stop the bad things from happening. So do we! I think that's one of God's little plans for humanity.”
But God can, according to Christians – do so without even blinking an eye. So God has a plan, that entails millions dying in war, of starvation and poverty simply to test us? What an uncaring parent he is…
God is supposedly loving and caring. But now he’s tough? That’s contradictionary…
” I think God made the flood happen to punish the world for the evil they were making back then.” Wouldn’t it have been way easier to stop the evil, and make humans good?
Jury> Ah, so the Holy Spirit itself told you, you were one of God’s chosen.
How do you know you’re not just…hearing… voices?
Ninjaturtle> The story doesn’t hold. The unkept man is AWARE that barbers exists. He can see their barber-shop signs and look through the windows to see the actual barbers doing their stuff. He chooses not to buy their services.
You cannot see God. You can’t walk past a place saying ”Go’ds in here” and then go in and actualluy see good.
So – faulty logic.
Jury>
Me: ”So why not simply intervene, instead of letting people die of starvation, disease, violence and war – innocent people even.
You: ”Things like those happen to let these people know He's existing.” Are you sure that’s what you mean?
” Not all people are His children. He only knows who are His ... and His children know who He is.”
So nothing bad ever happens to a believer??!?!?
” ...or is it contradictory to what you think?”
😆 Read this http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html and say the same again…
Let me ask you this: According to your belief must one know God and embrace him to be saved and go to Heaven?

We done that before The Omega. Remenber when we discussed my little theory of philosophers proving God's existence back in the evolution thread?. Remenber Kant? St. Thomans Aquinas? Descartes? John Scotus Erigena?. Well, those were the foundations of my arguments. Yet, you kept being scientific about it rather than philsophical. So, yes! we're going in circles with the proofs of God.

Again the millions of deaths that happen in wars, famine, and poverty are human responsibilities. We can't keep blaming deities for OUR own mess! I guess for God to be good he/she must probably take away our free will. Which we've used so far to make a dump out of our world. Yeah, what would happen if God takes away our free will.......but that only applies if you believe in God....so nevermind.

But wouldn't that defeat the purpose to prove that we as humans can do good things without of divine intervention? I think (and once again this is my view.....whether you accepted or not) God made this world for us to live in harmony. For us to make a better world. Maybe the purpose of Creation was to test humans abilities to be as ONE. What has happen instead? Creationist and Evolutionist have taken their own side and don't give each other a chance to come together and find the truth that is out there.
Just one simple question for you. Can Evolutionist and Creationist work together to find our purpose in life? Because I heard of Religious people that take science seriously. And I also heard of Scientist that take religion seriously. Maybe we should try it as well?
Does it sound too hard? if so why not give it a try?
Science and Religion are like two children arguing. It takes Philosophy (The parents) to separate them and settle their diffences.

hear hear! 😛 Encore! So true!
BackFire, have you actually read any part of the Bible? And no one forces you to go to ‘that big cult building’, even if you are Christian, no one said you had to give money either, no one said there was brainwashing because there’s not.
Brainwashing is force-stuffing stuff into someone’s head and no one forces you to believe in God. People listen to what is preached to them and accept it and realise it is the truth. That’s not brainwashing. It’s listening and decided whether or not you accept what is told to you.

How do you know you’re not just…hearing… voices? For the one to become one of God's chosen people, he must undergo the same process as how Jesus Christ and His apostles did for the first century Church, by virtue of a commandment that one must belong to Christ. One of these process is preaching God's words. And who will do these? Of course, it's God's messenger. Since the word of God are kept secret or hidden in mystery (Rom.16:25), the messenger has the gift to come to the full knowledge of the truth and fully understand the mystery of God's kingdom (Mk.4:11-12). Thus, accuracy of a certain translation can only be determined by him. He uses the method of comparing to ensure that the right message is ascertained (I Cor.2:13). And since the messenger is of God, only he has the exclusive authority to preach the undeniable and unadulterated truth (Rom.10:15). To him God gives the spirit without limit (Jn.3:34).
Biblical prophecies about the Church built by Christ Himself in the first century took place... the blessings ... and the curse. That Church ceased to continue as prophesied.
But God has chosen another flock of people, again, to serve him according to His will.
More prophecies in the Bible started to take place after the first century Church... As prophesied, it turns into a Roman Church ... The Catholic Church. She is the "woman who sits in many waters ... in seven hills ..." along with the "beast out of the earth, with two horns, and bears a sinister number".
And the history of God's calling will repeat itself.
Everything has been planned by God Himslef... everything prophesied in the Bible must be fulfilled...These days, one thing will happen again ... as God's warning ...
... as it was in the days of Noah. 🙂Me: ”So why not simply intervene, instead of letting people die of starvation, disease, violence and war – innocent people even.
You: ”Things like those happen to let these people know He's existing.” Are you sure that’s what you mean?Wars, famine, and pestilences were already forwarned in the Bible to take place... it's all because of man. God would let this happen to make these people realize, at least, realize what they are doing. God is just waiting up there for man to seek for His protection ... but it's still man's choice if he'll do so.
” Not all people are His children. He only knows who are His ... and His children know who He is.”
So nothing bad ever happens to a believer??!?!?In this world, God's people would suffer tribulations and trials, as what God stated in the Bible ... but if these people remains in Him trough Jesus' name ... God's promise is theirs.
” ...or is it contradictory to what you think?”
😆 Read this http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html and say the same again…Ah, common works of those who do not understand God's words.
Let me ask you this: According to your belief must one know God and embrace him to be saved and go to Heaven?
🙂 Just one of God's commandments.
