I think they should. It's just a part of 21st century life. Some people are heterosexual, some people are homosexual. As long as they mirror race problems and religious overtones in comics, they should also mirror the latest happenings concerning sexual orientations. As long as they do it smartly, and don't just have a "token gay character", like Northstar was for awhile. Despite my qualms with Austen, I thought he handled Northstar well, he did touch upon and use his homosexuality as part of his character, but I don't think he did it distastefully, and him being gay wasn't the only facet of the character that Austen used. He had a crush on Iceman for awhile, and that worked, because it wasn't extensive, when Northstar figured he didn't have a chance, he let it drop, and it just played into the larger Soap Operatics of his run. At the end of the day, Northstar was an X-Man, not some gay guy they kept around. He would kick your ass and do whatever he needed to do to win and help the team, like any team member.
Why? I don't want to buy an issue of, oh Avengers and have it full of some new character's gay love problems, but neither do I want to buy an issue and have it full of Hank and Jan going through their old "I love you lets get married" "I love you but no, lets just enjoy each other" "Okay, lets run off to one of our mansion retreats" "I love you" moves.
Gay people are just people who look at different porn. Why can't they save the world too?
Yeah, I understand people have religious beliefs that go against it and I respect that. I think active discriminations is wrong, and perhaps a passive "who gives a shit" attitude is not that much better, but if your good holy book states don't get involved, and that's what you follow then, it is the lesser of two evils. In my opinion. All that shit about love your brother and your neighbor and all those peopel can only go so far in a modern setting anyways.
i dont have a problem with gay charcters, i know this cliche has been beaten to death but i wanna see lesbians. cuz the fact that they're gonna be superheroes, they'll be fit and trim and good looking in thier form fitting uniforms. however, if they dare put oone of these fat, out of shape, middle aged b*tches, with mullets in a comic I WILL PROTEST p. pickets signs and every damn thing!
No one complained when Psylocke and Cyclops had sex in the comic. Although I don't think you actually see it, you see her on top of him under the covers naked. If that's ok (story and character) relevant, which it was, then why can't there be gay people in comics? I'm not gonna go out of my way to have them put in, but if they are I'm not gonna go mad about it coz it's a way of life for some people.

The thing is, they actually hinted to it with Mary Jane and Black Cat loads and loads of times. I think if they had to choose male or female homosexuality to be in comics it'd be the latter, purely coz there's more male readers and lesbians aren't looked upon with as much horror as gay men are.

i dont have problems with gay characters in comics at all. I don't want to see them having sex though. And don't go saying that "thats not fair" just hear me out. Cuz i dont really like seing straight chatacters have sex in a comic either. It kind of ruins the feel for some characters. Take peter parker for example. I always though of him to be one moral and wait for marriage or whatever. now, come to find out, he has 2 kids from Gwen....
back on the main issue, like i said, i dont mind there being gay characters, IF they were intended to be gay. I do HATE it however, when an author takes somebody else's character and makes him gay, just for the hell of it. Like in ultimate x-men. I've always been a fan of collossus in regular x-men. Now, in the ultimate verision, they made him gay. Why? Because it adds diversity. No, it just completely alters and distorts a character to the point that i dont even like him anymore, because he is SO off from the original

Before tackling the gay issue, comics should probably try to increase ethnic ratio's. How many blond haired blue eyed Avengers are there? We need some more of basically every ethnicity. Latino, Indians (both Sitting Bull and Ghandi variety), asian, black, aboriginee, etc.
I disagree. Not because I don't think it would be a good idea to increase ethnic ratios, but because--proportionate or not--there are already a number of well-known black (Black Lightning, Black Panther, Storm, Cloak, Blade), Asian (Katana, Dr. Light), etc comic book characters, compared to basically one well-known gay comic book character (Northstar). That's a pretty lousy ratio.
