But there's a story there that has the sym enjoying carnal relations with Sue Storm. Of course, I never read it... Actually, I did, and then I had to screw my head back on, cause it fell off after all that shaking-it-in-appalled-disbelief. Lord, that story was unrelievedly grostesque in its concepton of female sexuality.

Nothing as good as that one, sadly. It's called Bereft of Peter, and it's a dandy bloody story. I'm writing a whole bunch of symbiote stories, all at the same time... nothing worthy of detailing here, I assure you.
Also, "carnal relations"! I love it! I've never heard that used in a serious context before! Today is a day that lives on in my memory forever. The day of Carnal Relations! Woo!
"Carnal" is the sym name of my charactor, Allison, a nice young psycho cheerleader who one day meets a tall, red, and ugly stranger...

Seriously, Hostile, if you could enjoy that Felicia/MJ scene you really don't care for a lot of actual personality in female charactors, do you? I mean, its not dull for you that they're puppets that "relate" in a completely false way? That author put no work into his charactorizations of the women. It was bland as porridge.
I like a little "psychology" in my fanfics. I don't enjoy barely animate robots and woman-shaped animals...performing poodle-esque tricks...yee-awn!

I felt they had just about as much characterisation as their comic counterparts... plus I enjoyed the Felicia/MJ scene because it was brutal, not because of the psychological implications. Maybe I'm just shallow, but I still enjoy that story a helluva lot.

The brutality, Hostile, was seriously undercut by the fact that it didn't register with either the victom or the perpetrator- in effect, it was not presented as a "real" brutality. It was just "going-through-the-motions." I felt cheated, because if that author had only put minimal effort into it, and included some ACTUAL PEOPLE inside those bodies, it would have been an eye-burner. I also felt quite unwelcome, because it was clear that the author had no use for women, eithor for inclusion as protagonists in his fictions, or as readers. It wasn't the "brutality" I minded, it was the complete negation of female participation in his private little world. I know where I am NOT WANTED! (flounces off)
Yes, RJ--I am a huge GI Joe fan--but a bigger fan of Cobra and Cobra Commander--and
For me, Venom's appeal is more invloved than just liking the suit--I love the fusion of the man and the symbiote--the nature of their relationship us as complicated as marriage--maybe more--it's a life-partner that you're always tethered to--you can't just get pissed and go to the pub to cool down for a few hours--this thing lives inside of Eddie Brock day in and day-out--that's an incredible amount of committment.
Brock is complicated--enigmatic and heroic, brutal and gentle, self involved, and yet very devoted, highly intelligent, strong, and very adaptive.
Perhaps the reason I like him the most is because he tries hard to do the right thing, but isn't afraid to achieve his objective by any means necessary.
And red and Hostile--I think it's safe to say that all of us is a sucker for a symbiote--we just can't all agree on the same suit.
Yes, I like the marriage analogy, too. That's how I prefer to see the relationships presented. I don't like it when the symbiotes "cheat" because it lessons the tension of the "trap" that both parties are in.
Its a great metaphor for relationships. I like to play with things in extreme ways... symbiosis is EXTREME. Not to mention, a slick sym suit is like the ultimate in fetish wear, combining (at least in Red's case) latex and "(blank so as to not burn eyes) play."
