I honestly had no idea about the sarlaac pit venus flytrap getting added in and Han's line getting changed there.
you should check again, i don't think that line was changed at all. i have only been watching the original edition for the past 3 years, and i always hear him say "it's alright, i can see a lot better now."
i might be wrong, but you should check on that one, i don't think it was changed.

it was. You've probably been watching the SE. The 97 editions was when that change occured. It was originally "It's all right, trust me."
yep yep this is right. Alot of people have mistaken the 97 versions for the theatrical versions, honest mistake.
I personally prefer the line in its original form "It's all right, trust me" because Han says that more than once in the OT.
actually i have the original trilogy on video and the SE edition... i haven't seen my SE edition for at least 2 years, and i'm not sorry about that either :0P
anyway, wow.. i'll have to pay closer attention to that part next time...
don't see why they'd change that .. and did they get harrison to come back and voice over it, or was it there from another cut of film????
that would be interesting to know.

I didn't think that LaserDisc had 5.1 tracks... that's impossible to rip 5.1 from a source of 2 channels 😕
There was a release of the original version just before the SE came out. They do include a 5.1 sound channel. If anyone can remember, there was a big advertising campaign just before the SE's were to be released in the cinema making a big fuss about it being the last time you'd be able to buy Star Wars in its original form, which is probably why Lucas is adamant he won't release them again. Those discs definately have a DD5.1 track although the SE discs sound better. As for ripping them, i've never seen the rips, i own the LD's

George also mentioned in the AOTC commentary, that that's why he had Jango smack his head on the landing ramp of the Slave 1 as he walks through the closing ship door after his fight with obi-wan, to reference the clones of him smacking their heads as well.
yup, I heard that when I listened to the commentary.

I remember that and a bit of that advertising is on my VHS copies.

Major shock seeing them with two revisions......but I agree with Ush, personally. They're his films, and although there are some tiny changes, they are still "A New Hope" "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." The Emperor hasn't grown fangs and made Luke a vampire, Darth Vader hasn't got jiggy with Boba Fett, the storyline is there that was there twenty years ago, with improvements or degrades, depending on your views, in a scene or two, and redone special effects.
OMG I almost died laughing when I read that...
Well, I STILL don't have the DVDs, and I've never seen the SE so I know all the changes will probably be shocking for me...but I'm going to reserve judgment until I get to actually see them.
