True, true...
1) Yes, NoSeeD, Ock always says that. Its like a total classic. (referring to the everyone has ass holes thing)
2) I agree with NoFate's prediction of SM 3 but I would add in a Osborn as Goblin to make things a lot better, even with the hours growing late. I mean, seriously guys, its like preparing a glass of Iced Tea and not drinking it!
3) Dunst would probably be the last actress I would pick to be MJ. Well, no really, but come on Raimi! Pick some one like Heidi Klum or Kate Beckinsale. Dunst would be the last on my list of candidates!
Ayt, thats it! ChuckTaylor over and out!
Hey here is how I think Spiderman 3 should go, tell me what you think:
Starts out with Jamesons son realizing he has the symbiote, he is hearing voices and thinks he is going crazy. He gets rid of it and guess who is in the right place at the right/wrong time, (however you look at it) Eddie Brock (Grace). He gets a hold of the symbiote and turns into Venom in a very dramatic scene. After we see this we see peter for a while blah blah blah, then We get Harry at oscorp who is so furious at Peter, but can't do it himself (kill him). He creates the formula for the sandman and tests it on someone who has no idea what they are doing...yes its Flint. After Flint wakes up he is insanly mad, but doesn't remeber how he got their. Harry somehow finds a way to make it look like it was Spidermans fault and their ya go. You have 1 angry Spiderman hating Villain. Brock is pissed because he is jealous, and Flint thinks Spiderman turned him into the Sandman....(I really dont think Harry will be a Goblin) You guys think of the rest...but thats my idea of how the 2 villians come to be... Bad or good, you decide.

Thats probably the best idea so far, I like how you think the Sandman will come to be, very cool.. The Venom part kinda shakey, but if they did the sandman how you said it, I think it would be a good movie. I also think that maybe if Harry frames Spidey, like you said, he may also wear the Goblin suit and help out sandman at least capture Spidey, but without participating in trying to kill him. That would be cool.. that could happen most of the movie with Venom and Spidey having the final battle at the end. Maybe while he is fighting Sandman Venom appears, sandman runs away, not wanting anything to do with Venom, and then Venom takes over fighting him in the most awsome fight scene we have ever seen. Imagine 2 villains that can shoot webs, and fighting all over the skyline of Manhatten.... it will be insane, if Raimi can pull it off..
Doc Ock let me explain myself a little.
First of all, I hate how Hollywood works. I love movies, but I hate Hollywood. It’s a love\hate thing I have. My first love is Comic Books. I’m 24 years old with a full time job, girlfriend and an active social life. Needless to say I don’t get to keep up like I could when I was a kid with more time on my hands. Even though I wish I could.
My problem with your story is exactly why I hate Hollywood’s adaptation Comic Books. Comics have very elaborate and interesting story’s that go into great detail. This is because they don’t have a budget or a specific amount of time like Movies do. Not to say comics don’t have a budget or a specific amount of time to get a story done, I’m just saying Movies are far more limited than Comics.
I think your story is flat and boring. Harry simply creating these two villains is even worst than the story behind Doc O in Spider-Man2. While yeah no one “created” doc Ocks hate for spider-man in SM2. It was the “Evil” arms that drove Doc Ock crazy and that’s pretty weak compared to the comic.
I would like to see Villains with more of a real reason to hate Spider-Man. They have done a great job so far (IMO) with Harry and GG2. This was done well because it was spread out over the two movies.
However, its impossible to take the Venom mythos (one of the best story arcs in Spider-man was that of the Sin Eater\Space Wars and so on. To just re-write it into "Harry creates Venom in a lab" is absurd. Hell even Ultimate Spider-man had a better idea than that, and I dislike it a fair bit (as well as most Spidey fans). The suit is an alien and IMO should stay that way.
Sandman is a silver age comic character and back then the origins for villains was pretty weak, but they did do a better job creating a background and giving life to a character than most popcorn flicks can do.
Oh and Yes I know about Flint Marko\William Baker hiding out on a beach where he thought he could avoid the law. I know he was exposed to run off nuclear testing materials (I haven’t really read much into Sandman and he was one of my least like villains). However he could be adapted in a tasteful way with out destroying his comic mythos.
Here's my take on what should happen should they use the three (god help us if they do)
Let’s start the movie out in 2-3 years. Peter and MJ are having problems in their relationship. She is having problems dealing with Peter’s double life and is constantly in fear he will die and never return (sound familiar? It should). She’s had lots of time to think about it and now the relationship is falling apart. Meanwhile Peter is currently thwarting all of Flint Marko's petty attempts to rob banks and commit fairly small time crimes and mocking\teasing him for wasting his time (small crimes compared to what he does later. Mocking him in that funny Spidey way) and his hate for spider-man grows. In one particular event spider-man ties up Flint Marko (humiliating him) and leaves him for the police while Spider-man takes off to “more important things”. Marko manages to free himself as Spider-man takes off. This gives a pretty good appeal Marko to hate spider-man. Marko can take off to some abandon warehouse (or something outside of town tucked away) where he thinks it’s safe. Only to find that he is in the middle of a failed mini atomic test that kingpin had just recently abandoned. There has been no explosion but the failed machine is buried under dozens of sandbags until it can be moved safely. As he moves things around (or hits them in frustration from spider-man) the delicate machine blows up, covering him in radioactive sand. We only see the explotion of sand blasting him and cut to the outside shot of the building blowing up. We assume he dies.
Sure it’s not a beach, but hey something has to change even though I wish it didn’t. we don’t have time to have Marko grow to hate Spider-man after so fitting it in before doesn’t hurt.
Now for venom.
Personally I don’t think there’s any right way to do it. I think what needs to be done is to build up the reason why Brock would hate Parker. In the comics parker destroyed Brocks reputation as a reporter when parker exposed the fact that Brock only found a guy who confessed to everything. It’s a long and drawn out story with Dare Devil and some other stuff. Its been a while and I think this whole story was done in the Web of Spider-man not main Amazing series. So here’s how I guess I would fit Venom in.
While we follow the story of Marko and his small time crimes that spider-man (the viewers only see as a small annoyance nothing big), we are actually following the spider-mans pursuit of the "Sin Eater". We don’t see the full Sin Eater story and it has been changed so we are in the middle of it. We just hear about it through characters talking about it and new reports on TV in the background (classic movie style. Sucks I know but we would need a whole movie to really go into the Sin Eater story with Dare Devil and all that. Regardless the Sin Eater story is only here as motivation for Brock). So the main focus at the start of this movie is us following Spider-man and Sin Eater and Spiderman\MJs crumbling relationship.
Out of the blue we find that Brock now has evidence that pins Greg Emml (is that spelt right?) to the Sin Eater by confession. Later that day Spider-man captures the real Sin Eater (ok I know, but we don’t have time to do it like the comics). Eddie is exposed and just like Harry Osborn and Marko, he is humiliated in front of his peers by Spider-man. This gives motivation to all three characters (the same motivation).
So if you’re trying to follow along we now have this half way through the movie (or an hour in).
Harry is pissed because he blames Spider-Man for the failed project with Doc O in the pervious movie.
Marko is pissed because Spider-Man stops all his crime attempts and leaves him humiliated in public as well as mocks him (its funny to us the viewers) for being a petty criminal.
Brock is pissed because he has been humiliated by Spider-man exposing the real Sin Eater.
So now we could do this in about an hour since Osborn’s story is already done and the Sin Eater\Marko stories overlap. IE Spider-man goes to a crime he thinks is Sin Eater but its only Marko(mocking him for wasting spider-mans time when a real criminal is out on the lose).
Now, how does Brock become venom? We could have spider-man explore a giant explosion just outside of NYC that ends up being a asteroid impact(maybe an asteroid is what hit the building Marko was in, causing a radioactive explosion) with the alien suit attached. Parker suspects this might be the Sin Eater and gets there first. Marko is no where to be found, but Parker finds an asteroid. Parker is "infected" and this suit helps him capture Sin Eater. (So saving time this overlaps in the first hour). Parker sees how this suit is changing him when his fights with MJ get worse and the suit causes him to split with MJ and be more violent over all.
A good cross over with Fantastic Four and Spiderman could have Mr Fantastic remove the suit the same way he did in the comics. The suit however once removed from spider-man somehow escapes. The suit uses the air vents and makes its way to the roof only to find Brock ready to kill himself. As Brock jumps the suit connects to his body “infecting” him. During the dramatic fall he morphs into Venom and the suit's tentacles rip out of him swing him to safety. This could make for a cool scene if you ask me ;p.
I’ve already wrote half the movie and IMO the most important part is character introduction.
From this point we get to see Marko (who we think dies in the mini atomic explosion) robbing a bank and surprises spider-man with his new powers. Power that would translate very well to the big screen.
I’m not a writer nor do I pretend to be so Ill leave the plot (the theme of this movie could easily be Revenge as that was a major theme in the others) and devices to the pros. I suppose the best thing would be to have them make a group of three and try to take him out while fighting amongst themselves.
The ending could be that the three of them ultimately kill themselves off with just a little help from spider-man. Again the idea that “with great power comes great responsibility”. These villains are gifted with great power, but they don’t know how to use it responsibly and it ultimately leads to there demise.
So yeah
Doc Ock, I think your idea was lame.
Damn now that's a rare thing there. An insightful post.
Ok let me sum up my response to it.Yes I agree with you completely about how Hollywood makes a mock up of the comic books.Raimi is a good example of that, with his changes to the villains, and making it all about one damn girl etc.
Your ideas for SM-3 are impressive. But you see the idea I presented, however lame you may find it,is probably the way it's going to go in SM-3.That or something similar.
And I'll tell you why I believe this. For starters we've been told there's even more focus on Peter this time around. That to me spells out more Peter/MJ drama.Maybe more problems with Aunt May....etc etc.
We have been told by Raimi that Spidey faces double trouble.Meaning two villains. We know one is Sandman, the other one has to be Harry. What else is he going to do in SM-3??
If,and I say IF Raimi was bull sh1tting us,and we will see THREE villains, how on earth is that going to fit into a two hour movie??? Three completely seperate origins to be told?? Unless two of them happen together.Meaning Harry has a hand in Sandman's and what ever villain Topher is playing, creation.
Does it suck?? Sure. But alot of what Raimi has done sucks IMO.
Yeah the movie would never be as awesome as the idea I outlined.
the post I made was simply what I "think" should happen. Obviously the writers have already finished raping the spiderman mythos and perhaps now we will get a really lame story.
My post was just to show that 1) A movie can be made to follow closly to the mythos with out hurting it too much. 2) that a story with 3 villains is possible if done correctly (and sticking to mythos) 3) That I do actually know the Spider-man mythos very well.
When I grew up I lived and breathed spiderman. I even recently bought the spider-man 40 year collection on CD-rom with PDF versions of all the Amazing spiderman comics. I randomly read comics from there when I get a chance at work or at home.
Im not a pro writer or anything (obviously lol) but Im more than sure the move idea I just came up with in a matter of an hour would be 100x better than anything we will end up with.
Its frustrating when my friends are like "why didnt you like the spiderman movie? I thought it was AWESOME! and you love spiderman way more than I do!"

I don't recall Harry blaming Spider-Man for Ock's failed project. If I recall he blamed Octavius,as he should have.

The crackpot being Octavius.
