Many analogies are imprecise

So you don't believe in evolution???

Yes, I do believe in Evolution. But, no one "turned it on". In my opinion.

Ok get pedantic over an analogy

God/Nature turned it on when they started the process

I compare it to people thinking that someone like, oh.... Angelina Jolee would be attracted to someone like...hummm?...Billy Bob Thornton!

Urks...Angelina Jolie...that's disgusting....

I believe god to be the result of nature, not teh other way round.

As for being, pedantic, it was your analogy...not mine.

I understand that you are gay Capt_Fantastic... Can I ask;

When was the first time you knew you were gay?
Did you ever fancy women?

Could you ever see yourself as a straight man in another reality?

I first realized that I was "gay" when I was about three years old. Of course, I had no idea what "gay" meant...or was.

I have had several relationships with women, and even loved one..very much...but I came to realize that I loved what she represented, not her...the woman. What she represented to me was a close personal relationship and a friend who understood my sense of humor. But, despite the physical relationship we had, I could never feel totally physically attracted to her.

No, I can't picture myself being attracted to women. I never have before.

But, if you're asking if I would be straight if I could, then my answer is no.

Interesting post 🙁

Thank you for responding, Capt_Fantastic

So if genetically you were born gay... are any of your family gay as well???

It obviously cannot work like that, or the 'gay' gene would die out.

unless as I suggest "Gayness", has a role in society, a non reproductive role but a socially biological role conferring some advantage to the group. A gay caste if you like.

My neice has red hair, no one else in the family has red hair either. So, just because I have no other family members that are gay, doesn't mean that homosexuality is not genetic.

As I said before, evidence has indicated that a single gay gene does not exist. Rather it is a different genes, acting within their original function, that has determined my sexuality.

The same genetic symphony, it just functions differently.

That's not was I was refuting- I was refuting the idea of a gay gene being passed in the manner of a hereditary ailment or something.

What would you see as the purpose of that group though? (out of interest)

well meer cats have an altruistic caste - a bit like teachers etc - perhaps as many in Education, entertainment and the caring professions are gay this is there bent.

I don't mean to be harsh to homosexuals... but could this be a way of genes deciding that these people shouldn't pass there genetics on??

For if these people are sucessful and the gay gene helped them to survive in life they would have no way of passing it on...

Were thatthe case, they would all be incapable of breeding. But, the opposite is true.

"chosen or genetic"

as if its either one or the other

being hetero or homosexual is an emotional state...

its akin to saying that envy, hatred, anger, sadness and any other emotion is driven by genes or choice....they're not and neither is sexuality

No need to call them bent.

Bit excessive.

The tragedy is, have to explain now that I know what you meant.
