1-what nature show is going to show two male lions ****ing? why would they?

2-it is neither homosexual or heterosexual to them. they are fulfilling their drive to get off. that is their drive. nothing more: to have an orgasm.

I am not talking about Steve Erwin showing two males crocs having sex. There have been studies on animal sexuality for purposes of better understanding our sexuality.

I do agree that the labels we use on ourselves probably wouldn't fit on animals, but I also think in many cases it has more to do with just reaching orgasm as many male dogs (or female) dogs that mount each other do not orgasm, it is strictly a dominance thing.

nature is far too simple to equate the human mind to imho. animal gets horny, animal gets off (or at least tries).

then imho you personificate animals too much. they are simple creatures which have a simple drive to ****. sure, females in nature are more attractive to males given pheromones and other means of enticement, but that is inconsequential to the animal's drive.

animals do not need to acknowledge their instict to reproduce. its not necessarily their own conclusion, but rather nature's. an animal wants to get off, and god/mother nature/whatever conveniently set it all up so that an animal's greatest drive to get off would be exactly what it takes it reproduce.
so why should the lion have to ponder this?

I noticed the discussion has now shifted to the fascination of animals getting it on. It should be noted that in the movie The Bear, there is a good scene of two bears going at it while the cub (male, BTW) watches without joining in. Either he realized he was too young or would have gotten trampled to death...or he decided, "I don't go that way."

Dogs specifically have been studied, ask anyone that works extensively with dogs and they will tell you that when a male dog mounts another male dog it generally isn't for the purpose of an orgasm, it is to establish dominance. I have personally seen many times male dogs mount other male dogs and no erection was present and certainly no orgasm was reached. I have also seen female dogs mount male and female dogs and go through the motions, this is too to establish dominance as a female dog has no way of reaching orgasm by "pumping" the air.

It more on the lines of nature and sexuality and how it relates to our sexuality.

WTF? There's gay sex in a kids movie? LOL, that's a new one. I can just see the Christian front going berserk over it. "Hollywood is teaching our kids to be gay!"

Since when is homosexual sex not homosexual ? 😆

Also, PVS's link shuts your argument down big time.....

no, this one does:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glWQSM7DIFM

one male lion humps another, then lays down and gives an affirmative kick to his buddy to take his turn. clearly a mutual arrangement going on here

They are sinning 😆

Satan must have something to do with it !

I'm sure glad I didn't click that link!

oh, cmon mister "all my sigs involve animals in very awkward situations", this one is right up your alley

True, but I also don't want to get fired! Bad enough I have enough profanity exiting this computer to satisfy Scarface for a while, Lion action would certainly do me in.

What does it shut down exactly, I never said that there isn't male on male lion sex. I said with the exception of certain animals, it is a rarity and the page itself says that "Male homosexual mounting may account for up to 8 percent of all mounting episodes" Even if 8% is dead on accurate, that is still a "rarity".

Okay, it happens, I never debated that it didn't, you also have to take into account that the lions in question are in captivity, who knows how that affects them in respect to their sexual drive if at all.

Are they actually having sex? Or just going through the motions?

well, not really. the worst case scenario is that there are no females present. so they are 'prison gay'. however its clear that in such relationships they express mutual affection as opposed to one proving dominance.

since females tend to never leave an alpha-dominated pride, it only stands to reason that you are witnessing a microcosm of a lion's nature outside of a pride.

that is unclear. they may just be dryhumping eachother rather than anally penetrating. one thing is certain though....they are both enjoying themselves.
