The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

You guys are freaking me out!!! I have to have this game. The first time I tried Morrowind, I locked myself in my room for an entire weekend. The way you guys are going on about Oblivion seems to make Morrowind appear to be garbage in comparison... I can't believe that I'm about to do it all over again... Go out and buy a system for one game. Can someone honestly tell me whether or not this game is worth it?

Morrowind is garbage in comparison. The combat system, the AI, the environment...its all been MASSIVELY improved over Morrowind. Plus now you can play around with the physics engine, I like knocking stuff off tables cause they fly everywhere 😂

I'm a reviewer thankyouverymuch. It's my hobby to tear apart games/music/movies I find to be lackluster while overly hyped.

And thank you for your half-assed opinion.

Last time I checked the final factor in any game is whether you have fun. If I find Tetris to be more fun than Halo 2 should I play Halo 2 just because it's prettier?

you do have to level a bit before each oblivion gate right?... I mean I tried it without leveling and I got creamed by a dremora.. got to level 7 and tried it and i barely beat the final dude before the stone

What kind of character do you have? I was able to tackle the Oblivion Gate in Kvatch with a level 1 mage, but I did use hit and run tactics. I think I'm playing this game abit excessively though. I was also the same way when I went into the dark brotherhood sanctuary, I laughed from how calm everybody was about killing. My favorite is the orc guy.

Mist, you have to raise the guard's disposition to a high enough level so he'll tell you about the case. Try charm spells. You can also get mages robes from Rindir's staffs (he has a nice, white one that makes you feel like Gandal) and Divine Elegance in the market district of the Imperial City. Also, if you've been into the Arcane University, check where you get your staff enchanted, they have a couple empty ones in there, 3 if I remember correctly.

Btw, how many hours has everybody clocked in?

^ Ha yeah, I thought the guard was already maxed on disposition until I tried bribing him, finished that quest anyway..

I tried to start an arena fight, went down to the guy and requested a match, he says yeah ok go to the Arena to fight, so I go there and it says I cant go in unless I bet on a match, so I talk to the betting guy and he says I cant cause Im already up for a match....so I cant get in 😖 And my map keeps pointing to the Arena trainer guy but he keeps telling me to go fight...WTF DO I DO? another-bunny

Just got the game, I have just moved through the sewers and exited game just before the exit. After the king the guy thought I was a Rogue, however I chose, um don't remember exact name Nightsomething maybe? Some kinda magician anyway. The game looks great, however games that start in dark areas always give me a worse first experience then they deserves, like Metroid Prime, once I got to the "light" areas it got great.

...thought this was appropriate. A sig I made a while back.

Btw how do one lvl up? Do the Major Skills have to be over a certain amount? If so what amount for what lvl??

I believe you have to gain around 10 levels in your major skills to gain a character level

When you tell the guy that let you join "Ready for a match" he says ok and stuff, well instead of leaving back into the city area...you turn to the left, and there should now be an open area...before taht there was a black gate, but now its open since you're ready for battle. go up the stairs through the door....and YAY

note to everyone, your level doesnt matter a lot. the game levels with you. Areas are not too hard for you, because if you got to a higher level the guys in said area would just improve or be changed to a new higher up guy. the game actuall takes a very very hard turn for a lot of people around level 15-20. Although once i got closer to 30 it has now turned much easier because of the awesome stuff you get while working through the hardship of the 20's

if dremora are dwarves.. then what are dwemer? o_O

as for the grand soul gems.. mage guild vendors almost always have one up for sale... there are also some locked up in display cases in chorrol mages guild.. if you have intent to snag em that way

I've looked in I believe 5 mage guilds so far, they only have "greater" and lower 🙁. No grand *sob*

o_O... my book says every mages guild sells a grand soul gem.. they also say that the lady who tells you (that wife or whatever) to get the soul gem.. she has one downstairs from her in some trap door storage area

I got 5 already. Stole 4 from the arcane, found the one down her storage, found one in the mine northeast of her place, and stole one from chorrols guild (the display case was hiding behind the staircase)

Just now I'm having a pain in the ass time trying to get a lot of other things lol

I actually got lucky finding the other things. I bought the Nightshade from a few different shops, bought the bloodgrass from some place in Imperial City, and bought the garlic from a few different inns and lodges. Killing the vampire did turn out to be sort of challenging (he doesn't use any weapons, but he has awesome blocking and hand-to-hand abilities) but I made sure to keep my distance and weaken him with spells/arrows before going in for the kill.

Besides accidently killing the Argonian I was getting blood from, I'd say it all went pretty smoothly. 😛

By the way, when you get the cure, make sure you bring it back to that guy. You'll get a reward. 😉

Anyway, I just reached level 15, I believe, and have a little over 9,000 gold. Does anybody know where I can get a cheap house (something like 5,000 gold, maybe?)

doesnt hand to hand seem overpowered?... I mean if they beat your fatigue down (which isnt hard to do cuz most of your physical combat comes from fatigue) you just lay on the ground and get it handed to you lol
